Testament to Skoda build quality

Featured Replies

Not been on for a while but I thought I'd show you this, the wife did it on her way home tuesday night at about 11pm, the road was a sheet of black ice, she has bruised knees and thats it, thank goodness.

Glad she was alright!

Looks like your L&K will live to fight another day though.

i bet that was a scary moment! Glad she is ok.. it will buff out i'm sure :P

Wow! Glad she is ok... very lucky!

Is it just me though or is there only damage to the front wing?! Tough car!

That's very surprising! Glad she's ok, and the car looks like it's shrugged most of the damage off :)

Glad she's ok :)

Holy s***!!!!

Glad shes ok and it does look like only wing damage.

Both Skoda and woman survive I'd say thats a result.

As others have said thank god she's ok, it will have shaken her up a bit. How did she get out of the car? I can imagine a bit of panic setting in with that kind of situation.

The Octy looks to be in pretty good condition considering it's been upside down in a muddy ditch

Glad to hear she's ok, and it looks like the car will survive the experience too!

Ohh my god, glad she is ok :)

The soft mud prob meant it cushioned and absorbed the energy unlike a rock or the road which would have definately damaged the car and caused more serious injuries.

Lucky! Could've been nasty if the ditch had a few feet of water in it.

I'm not so sure that won't be a write-off? I suspect once the mud is cleaned off there won't be a panel left that isn't dinted/rippled.

Basically my worst nightmare.

So thats what the underneath of a MkI looks like.... glad she is ok though!

Basically my worst nightmare.

It's certainly not nice and I was only sideways, Being in a ditch with even a few inches of water is indeed terrifying.

Did the airbags go off on the car?

Seems like a lucky escape and I'm amazed at the tiny amount of damage too the car.

I'll also testify to the strength of the MK I Octy.

This situation is what means I keep thinking about winter tyres, but only studded tyres would help on ice and nobody is going to run them in the UK.

Glad your wife is OK. As for the car, bit of T-Cut and off you go :D

Glad she is ok. The car looks like all it needs is a good clean and it will be on its way again! Testament to how strong they are.

As others have said, how did she get out?! The ditch is fairly narrow and looks like it would have been difficult to open the doors. Glad she is ok though.

In most cases, dirty water damage inside means a write off unfortunately. If the only bodywork damage is to the wing though I'd definitely be buying it back from the insurance company. :)

Glad the fair lady is ok, must have been scary indeed.

And as for black ice, sorry but . :P

I don't think studded tyres are a legal option in the UK. Afterall we don't have a consistent climate to justify them.

Glad your wife is OK:thumbup::)

I am very seriously thinking of getting Winter Tyres for my Sedici
