Lamin-X Headlight Film - With Pics

Featured Replies

I found a massive difference in light output, so much so it was removed within 10 minutes

At first the lights were crap but me and Keef noticed that it was more or less due to the water between the film and light but as that dried out the lights were spot on :) It may help having the Xenons but I can't see any difference when driving at night...

Fabia with film on

Better picture :)

Lights look great mate :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

In fact, I like it that much I just orderded some in Gunsmoke.

Not sure why I thanked your post though, you have just cost me £46 :D:D:D

Cheers

Damian

I only used one sheet of 12x20 :)

that done my headlights and fogs :)

£21 well spent :)

Octavia headlights are bigger, approx 20.5" by 7" needed, so had to buy 2 of the big sheets, hence £46 :(

Should be worth it when its done though

oooooooooo *trudnles off to find out if this comes in purple*

no purple! thats colour-ist that is! maybe some subtle tint tho perhaps... humm

I'd stick the clear one on as protection, or the very light one to stop it reducing the light output. It does look nice with the lights off, but the thing is, I generally have them on. Still, over time it is probably not a bad thing to have to protect the headlights :D

Adding any coloured film to the headlights is going to affect light output, in just the same way as adding a tint to the rear lights can make the brake lights and indicators almost invisible.

Look at it another way, its like you wearing sunglasses to reduce the light or adding tints to your cars windows which again reduces light. When you fit this film, you are effectivly putting sunglasses or window tints onto your headlights.

Then there is the legal aspect, and it may invalidate the conformity of the headlights effectivly making them illegal.

Good point Mannyo.

Just re-read the description and the Gunsmoke is not road legal in the UK :(

I have just sent them an e-mail to change my order to Yellow, which apparently is road legal

It says only the clear and yellow are suitable for road use

Would have preferred the Gunsmoke tbh, but I'm hoping Yellow will still look good.

Cheers

Damian

Just had an email from the guy, he states:-

None of our light protection films are illegal. The reason we state that Yellow is legal is because its the only film which produces a coloured light (Yellow) where as none of the others do. In the UK forward facing lights should produce a white or yellow light by law and many people don't realise that Yellow is legal. Our GunSmoke/SubtleTint/OpticBlue and Yellow all produce a legal White or Yellow light.

There is no law/mot requirement regarding the colour of the actual lense.

Now do I go gunsmoke, or yellow

Got till the morning to decide which colour, as he is posting it out

Anybody any opinion?

Edited by damo :-)

i'm wanting to do gunsmoke but not sure if it'll be too dark for my car but it would fit with my black and red theme

Go Gunsmoke. I have and also bought some upgraded bulbs as the standard light output has always been a bit pants IMO. I havent fitted them yet so cant comment on the light improvement compaired to standard.

Got mine MOT'ed the other day and it passed. Ref the film MOT matie said "AS LONG AS THE SPREAD IS OK THEN ITS FINE" which it was.

From the police point of view, Showing other than white/yellow to the front and red to the rear is an offence. Those windscreen washer lights are a bit dodgy as they are 'non standard/mantatory'. However when my headlights are on they look white so youre never gonna get pulled. Just dont be a nob doing 50 in a 30mph zone and the rozzers wont be bothered.

done a quick photoshop of mine with gunsmoke, unsure if i like it or not.
