Featured Replies

Anyway on to the big mpg reveal .....

drum roll please ....

computer says .... 55.0mpg

cheers ... Darren

That's amazing! Though not unusual for me. Two adults, two kids, boot full of stuff - 100 miles to B'ham and 100 back and the computer said 62.5mpg :D

Had it up around 66 for part of the journey too. Mostly returns about 57 on a run of 60 miles.

the porsche driver was a ####head, i dont know of any winter tyres with a speed rating that high.. was it D plates ??

i normally keep it below 190 kph and set the speed wanring at 150 kph as a caution

the tyres i have are H rating

You should be aware the speed rating only guarantees the tire is good for 10 minutes at that speed.

Mine are H rated too, the dealer said that means 135mph/215kmh, so you are well within the design rating.

The Porsche had white rear plates, but we never got to read the town code, although it was heading towards Bayern (and using internal German stereotypes) Bavarians think they're special anyway! In their defence, the road was empty & the sun was out, however, the thermometer would have helped them choose a more sensible speed.

Well we went for a weekend in Dresden,

Outward journey, patchy fog -5c, 58.7mpg.

The return leg 5c, dry roads, 47.3mpg

(Hmmm, I wonder what caused that difference)

Loaded with Beer?

Pretty impressive figures; main factor did you enjoy the journey and was the visit to Dresden worth it?

Yeah Dresden is excellent, like Prague,

but without lots of "Brits on the p155".

Went on Thursday evening for Oasis gig,

Friday did the VW Phaeton factory tour,

(see the I want a Phaeton thread)

Saturday one of the narrow guage steam railways & the DDR museum,

Sunday the funicular & suspension railways.

We might have visited a few pubs too, well intergrated public transport, so the car stayed at the hotel. Only downside was some rain on Saturday evening that fell on top of the snow and turned the paths into ice rinks!! Some impressive chunks of ice floating down the Elbe too!!!

cheers ... Darren

Most used wintertires in D are H (up to 210km/h) some have V (me:D, up to 240km/h) and for the real fast ones there are W (up to 270km/h). If the autobahns are dry (but cold) you can really drive fast.
