Listening to Audiobooks

Featured Replies

I Listen to Audiobooks whilst in the car, I’m trying to find out if the Columbus head unit will retain the last position in the MP3 file when the head unit is switched off, be it on the hard drive, CD or SD card?

Thanks for any help in advance.

I would guess with the limited number of columbus owners your best bet will be rtfm :)

Yes, it does retain the position.

As I do a LOT of driving, I listen to quite a few audiobooks, so this was an essential feature.

I've actually found that putting the audiobooks on the SD card is actually a better bet, as it retains the position on a per media basis. This means I can listen to music from the HDD, but when I switch back to the audiobook on the SD, it has still retained the position. You could also do this for audiobooks on CD or DVD.

Hope this helps,

Bagpuss.

Thanks for the info Bagpuss, That exactly how I hoped it would work.

If anyone could direct to a link where I could download the Columbus audio manual this would be a great help, I have searched google without any luck.

Thanks Again.

Bagpuss put a link on in a thread about GSMIII

Yes, it does retain the position.

Would anyone know if this goes for the Bolero unit as well?

Yep. Same goes for the Bolero, but obviously only with CD/DVD or SD card.
