What cars have you owned?

Featured Replies

I see you all have owned many cars in you're day, and I want to hopefully own lots of cars when I grow up.

Right now, my collection is two:(, but i'm only 14, so i have many years to catch up!

1984 Suzuki SJ410, 1 litre 45bhp Top Speed 68mph!

SJ410 are great, but you can put a Suzuki Vitara 1.6 engine in them, straight swap from what I remember.

Do it, better than landys for getting up hills.

14years old!! I have pets older than you!

I must be getting old!

Started with a 1999 Honda Civic 1.5l LSI.

Then I had a 2006 Fabia Vrs.

Next came the 2007 Fabia Vrs se

Now I've got a 2005 Mondeo Mistral 1.8l.

I'm busy trying to work out what I'm going to buy next year as a kneejerk reaction to the Mondeo!!! It's probably time to buy the new Mk6 Golf GTI and get the GTI thing out of my system although the used prices on 350zs are very tempting!

Here Goes, sine 1992 it's been as follows. . .

Mini (T reg 1.0L)

Talbot Samba (A Reg 1.0L)

Austin Metro (F Reg 1.3L)

Ford Escort (D Reg 1.4L)

Ford Orion (E Reg 1.6 GLi)

Fiat Panda (E Reg 1.0S)

Comes highly recommended! Wish I'd bought the V8. Lots of them on sale now were Japanese imports (as was mine). You can tell them by extra flares on the wheelarches and a lock on the filler cap! Also have speedo in kph (although I managed to get one sent over from a scrap yard in the US and swapped it over to get MPH).

Other problem I found with the Mustang is there are no American car specialists anywhere near me (Coventry) - no one else wanted to touch it. Wasn't quite so much of a problem with the Explorer as it was sold in the UK (although the Ford dealers still hadn't heard of it!)

I've noticed quite a few Japanese import Mustangs come up for sale on the internet, usually V6s, although they are very reasonably priced - especially compared to some of the optimistic prices you sometimes see asked for Mustangs by traders in Classic American magazine ads. There seems to be an abundance of Chevrolet Astro dayvans coming in from Japan too, but I don't want a van.

My local garage just round the corner from me was happy to work on my American cars provided I supplied the necessary parts. I usually got these mail order from USAutomotive - which was usually the easiest, if not the cheapest, way.

Two cars at 14 is impressive! I do like your Felicia. There's something about the Felicia - it's an interesting car, being a hybrid of 'old-skool' communist Skoda and VAG-era design.

Mustangs aren't as big as you might think. Certainly a lot smaller than the Camaro/Firebird.

e.g. '96 Mustang: length 4610mm, width 1824mm (same length and one inch wider than a Vectra).

Love the BMW but it is a LOT shorter on boot space than the Octy. as our family are now grown up we don't need as much space but I can imagine you will have to carry a fair bit of gear about with you.

Economy and performance are what attacked me to the car - the 143 BHP BMW is about 7-8 mpg better of on average than the 105 BHP Octy. You wont get the 62 mpg claimed by bmw but I am please with what I get considering the roads i drive over.

The smallest of niggles is bugging me just now - as a 3 door (frame less windows)the window drops slightly when you open the door, and automatically goew back up when it shuts. But when its frosty (which has been a lot recently) it doesn't drop, meaning the glass catches the door door seal/body and wont shut until you defrost the window - pain in the A**e.

Starting in 1983 when I passed my test.
