Falken Tyres( any good ? ) and local fitting in Watford, Herts

Featured Replies

What about pricing your local Skoda dealer for fitting? I didn't realise until afterwards that my dealer would have done it for same price as a fitting centre.

I didn't think of that. Unfortunately my local stealers are a bunch of useless numpties who I would not trust with a matchbox car.

I have decided to go with Event-Tyres mentioned earlier by bahnstormer vrs.

452's rock, ignore all this rubbish about running them in, for the first 500 miles to remove the manufacturing compound, mine stuck like **** to a blanket from day one. Good test was a wet greasy roundabout where I nailed it on the inside.

All tyres need the release compound taking off them and that takes a few miles. The falkens seem to have a lot of it on them. I'd suggest that people do listen to the advice of taking it easy for a few hundred miles and that you were lucky as your tyre place did the decent thing and passed some sandpaper etc over the tread for you.

Doubt they ran the sandpaper over them, its the state of the roads round here that will do the good deed :):)

Just had 2 Falken 452's fitted, front tyres, by Event Mobile Tyre Service.

The fitter, Prash, was excellent. I will certainly use Event again.

Now lets see if they last longer than the Dunlop SP 01 A's they replaced (14000 miles)

I find my 452's quite slippery over the last few days. I dunno if its the weather here, damp and cold.

Any regular (summer) tyre will struggle when the temperature is around 5 - 7 degC and below; its been quite a bit colder than that in the last 2 - 3 weeks!

Even my much lauded Ultrac Sessantas have struggled, giving me wheelspin in 3rd gear at 50 - 60mph! :D mind you they are down to only 2.5mm tread depth. Time for some fresh rubber.;)

I just ordered a pair of Falken 452's from black circles @ £67.10 each with £10 del. And then getting a local place to fit them for £10 a wheel.

They also said they would swap the fronts for the backs as well :D

tbh in ireland it hasn't dropped as cold as that, maybe just getting into negative figures. But as you say there's a big difference when it turned cooler

Newbie here.......another vote for the FK-452's. I have had them on a BMW 3 Series and on an Audi A3. Excellent grip in wet and dry and handle pretty well too. Little on the soft side so they won't wear as well as some but considering the price they are great. When I sort of my next car (Octy vRS) I will be putting them on that too. Falken are owned by Goodyear I believe and the 452 bears a more than passing resemblance to an F1 GSD !

I've heard only positive comments about these. I may consider these when I change mine but I was also very impressed by the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's I got on my last vRS....

I believe the FK-452's are discontinued, at least that's what we were told when trying to get a pair for my brothers Focus - ended up with 912's instead which are in no way a bad tyre, but not as good as the 452's.

I had a pair of 452s on the front of my L&K and they were crap. OK grip in the dry, awful grip in the damp/wet. wouldn't touch them again. I wonder if they were a dodgy pair on my car as everyone else seems to rate them

have 452's on the front and when the back need doing they be on 452's too.

awful grip in the damp/wet. :

Would agree with that, especially when its cold outside.

I use 452's on both my TT and Merc. As soon as I need tyres for the Octavia I will be putting 452's on that as well.

The TT had PS2's on it before and at about £160 per tyre, they are not really better than the £80 452's.

My 912's have been brilliant. 10k later and they are still like new with great dry and wet grip. Nice and quiet too
