Falken Tyres( any good ? ) and local fitting in Watford, Herts

Featured Replies

Hi

I have seen a few threads mentioning Falken tyres, would these tyres FALKEN ZE 912 - 205/55R16 91V TL be OK for my 05 Oct Elegance ?

They seem a good price here at Camskill.co.uk FALKEN TYRES / CAR / FALKEN ZE912 ZIEX FALKEN ZE 912 - 205/55R16 91V TL :: £42.80 :: Car Tyres - MPV Tyres - People Carrier Tyres :: R16" - 205/55/16, 205/55 R 16 :: at £42.80 per tyre.

I have also phoned a couple of companies asking if they will fit the tyres for me. Nobody seems to want to fit them as company policy only allows them to fit tyres supplied by themselves ( Kwik Fit and Northway tyres )

Can anybody recommend, through personal experience, a company in the Watford, Herts area that would fit a customers supplied tyres ?

Thanks

Nigel

You could always try R Tec in St Albans as they are good.

They sell tyres cheap anyway so may even do you a good price ;)

.... and being into the modded/max power brigade ought to be able to get hold of falken's for you.

Alternatively; try 'Top Gear' on London Road in St Albans or Watford as here;- Topgear Watford. Wolfrace Exhausts, Alloy Wheels, Suspension, Tyres they do Falken tyres.

Finally; Falkens, any good? Of the budget level of tyre they are quite well regarded.

Cheers for that Fezboy. Just phoned them and got a quote for £111 fitted for 2 tyres. Excellent price.:)

Now I just need to know if these tyres are any good

Nigel

I had ZE912's on my Subaru Outback and whilst initial grip was good I found wear very poor (less than 15K), but then the extra wear could be due to perm 4x4. I found that I got a better deal with Yokohama Geolander. I seem to remember I tried the Falkens on my MG ZS a while back and again whilst I was impressed with the initial performance found they gave no where near the life of P0's, but I guess you gets what you pay for. National Tyres will now fit customer supplied tyres provided you can produce the orignal receipt to show they are new. I think you can also order the Falkens from Black Circles at a good price and use one of thier local fitters.

Hope this helps

Jim

I rate the 452s. The 912s are uttery pants though.

I have 452 before and I would get them again. When I got my lat pair I was offered Falkens and thought as the last 4 times I had them from this place they would be 452. It turns out they put the other 912 on. Wear is ok, but in the damp they are poor, wheels spin in third with esp on and have to be very careful cormering. I thought there was a diesel spill when i first drove on these, had to drive differently to accomodate the difference. If I could afford it, for safety sake would swap to 452.

Have a look at these guys, I use them for my Company's cars, they will come to you, £119.22 for a pair of ZE912s or £132.84 for a pair of FK452s Online Quotation - Event Mobile Tyres - We Come To You

I'd suggest the extra £12 is a small price to pay for the better FK452s.

Another vote for the 452s

That looks like a great idea. I am now heading in this direction and with the 452s unless I hear otherwise in the next few days

Me too. Quieter than original Bridgestones, good grip etc.

yep i have 452s and rate em ,

Me too!

I've just got a set of 4 FK452s. Found a local place near work that will fit them for 5 quid plus VAT per tyre which seemed more than reasonable. I haven't fitted them just yet because of the weather at the moment, but I'm please to hear that there are good reviews here!

452's rock, ignore all this rubbish about running them in, for the first 500 miles to remove the manufacturing compound, mine stuck like **** to a blanket from day one. Good test was a wet greasy roundabout where I nailed it on the inside.

Event Tyres are very good - used them several times and will be doing the same soon. My Michelins are going to last me only 14K miles.

Falkens on my mother's Mazda are totally shot after 8k on the front. And she's 62 years old and drives a 1.4 Mazda 2. Doesn't look good for wear on anythign fast or anything being driven more than 45mph.

But were they 452s ?

Not sure, either 452 or 512, can't remember which, they weren't on long enough for me to look very hard at them.

I used to use Nexen 3000 from Black Circles, I just put a pair of Falken FK-452 225/40 R18 Y (92), Reinforced from BC in November last year. They are alot better than the Nexen's and were around £160 fitted.

Have to wait a little more time to comment on wear and belated grip.

Another vote for 452s,had them a few months and am very impressed with grip.I had Toyo proxes T1rs on last vrs,452s are just as good for less money.

Another vote for 452's. Got mine from camskill.

Although i found the toyo T1R's better for grip, there are very soft compound and wore out quick enough.

Another vote for 452's here as well . I got mine from Tyres car 4x4 commercial (tyretraders.com). You can have them delivered or fitted locally.

Tyres are very subjective and a different people with different cars like diferent things.

Just done 1200 miles on a full set of Falken 912's and they have been very good so far. Quiet, economical, good in the low temps, and they seem to be holding their own in the handling stakes. I bought them because they were only £61 fitted for 205/45/16 which atm is a good deal. I am not sorry I got them although it's too eaarly to give a full review I have high hopes for them.
