front arb

need new front arb - plastic bushes fkd -

anyone any ideas on price -

Are you after an Original Replacement or an uprated one such as the Eibach? Which you get, i also recomend getting new drop-links too as these arent much from Skoda.

Depends on diameter but they are around £40-£60 for a genuine anti roll bar, no real need to uprate it, standard is just fine.

hi all -

looking for original bar as plastic sleeves on bar have gone and bar tends to slide from left to right and catch on the subframe -

tbh it dose not seem to be a very good design and will probably happen again somtime in the future even with a new bar - thought about useing powerflex bushes , would this be a better option -

thx for the info lu , got car booked in next week

How old's your Fabia? (51-plate?) The reason I mention this is that Skoda changed the design around then I think, and so any replacement will have collars to hold the bushes in place (see here)

The Collars fall off eventually after a few years :( , One of mine has fallen in half due to the Bar rusting/corroding underneath the plastic collar Etc.

What i did think of doing, Was to remove the Arb & then weld a couple of bits of Flat Steel around the Arb where the plastic collars use to be, So as to be an almost permanent fix as such ;)

It would be if you have the patience to fix them in exactly the right places - that is all the modified bar has, after you do that you would need to buy the mounting bushes for the modified bar as the outside diameter of the bar at the point where the monting bushes fit will now be smaller.

Powerflex do bushes for the 16, 17, 18 and 19mm ARBs IIRC but they dont do one for the 20mm vRS bar.

I think we are talking differently here.

The Dia. of the Arb would be unchanged so no need for different Arb bushes. All the collars do is prevent the Arb from moving sideways. The Oem plastic collars break & fall off, So these would be being replaced with the steel items to prevent sideways movement.

This would be instead of buying a whole new Anti Roll bar Etc.

£40 for an arb is it worth the trouble?

£40 for an arb is it worth the trouble?

I suppose it depends how long the O.E ones last. It really would not take long to do the Mod. the time taken would be to remove the Arb & refit Etc..

Now, ;):D If you had a Spare one to start of with ;) ;)

I have the Powerflex bushes fitted and they do make a difference

A simple fix if the collara break of is to replace them with jubilee clips - this can be done in 5 mins in situ and does the job just as well

Sorry I should have answered this sooner, the problem is that say for instance you have an old style 19mm ARB, because of the collars of the plastic stops, the correct mounting bushes would be maybe 21mm bushesas with the plastic collars that would be the effective bar diameter at the mounting point. So, when you then fit the modified 19mm ARB, you would need the 19mm bushes as the metal stops are just washers welded to the bar. This was kind of handy for VAG as it just meant mainly that one or maybe two of the smallest ARB bush sizes needed to be added and eventually one or maybe two larger ARB bushes would be deleted.

Just to add to this thread the standard 19mm and 20mm bushes have been deleted.

You now fit 18mm bushes to them all.

So now instead of wondering where to find 20mm FARB bushes for my vRS just buy 18mm ones (ie 18mm Powerflex ones from Awesome or somewhere) and these should fit and give me no problems?

The 19mm Powerflex ones fit just fine.

Standard bushes are rubber, Powerflex are PU.

Just to throw a spanner in the works....

Mine is a 51 plate when mine went , I fitted the Whiteline one

Helps with the rear ARB + :D :D

i've got an eibach 22mm one one my fabia and it probably isn't worth it, i was unimpressed by it all really
