Insignia recalled.

Featured Replies

I've been told by the guys at the dealers that all Insignias have been recalled. Every last one of them. Side airbags may deploy without warning.

Good start, eh?

Silly Vauxhall.

Yeah, and they're shipping these cars to the US, slapping on different plastics and selling them as Buick I think it is. GM's "global" cars.

Still don't know why they just didn't bring over the Commodore from Oz - they're proper, solid big cars, and with GM Europe's smaller turbo engines would probably clean up. Look how well the Omega sold. The cops here still have a huge number of Omegas in operational service too.

Our local Vauxhall dealer has just closed down after 75 years.

Hey similar thing happened on the Octavia II when it was firat launched, they didn't go off accidentally but when they did the wrong one popped as they had the drivers and passengers wiring reversed.

Thinks the Saturn Aura?

Bunch of rebadged cars.

No, Buick. The Aura is kinda a Vectra C.

Buick Lacrosse

Most of GM seems to be pushing Chevrolet now, seen that used on Isuzus and Vauxhall/Opel models already..

Yeah, the Vauxhall dealer in Londonderry/Derry has opened a Chevvy section now.

Also heard on the grapevine that Lookers (trading as Charles Hurst here) are going to shut all their remote dealership sites including 3 Vauxhall franchises and bring all their people to the main Belfast site.

The Frontera was really an Isuzu.

These so called world cars ford and GM go on about are a joke. By the time they get to the US, they look nothing like the EU version after being fuglyfied to wow the yanks, and some crap plastics used on a restyled interior.

And they wonder why Americans are shifting to EU and jap models in droves....

Are you sure??

My mom has a LWB Frontera, & what a bag o' sh1te that thing is!

We used a SWB Isuzu as a chase car on the British rally championship, loaded with the best part of a tonnes worth of spares, tyres and tools, now that vehicle i do rate highly!

;)

Ah, that will be why then - the Isuzu we used was the older (squarer) shape one.

Good old Vauxhall, at least they found out about it early on, unlike Skoda as mentioned above with the Octavia II. Hopefully they won't make the same mistake again, unlike Skoda, who did exactly the same thing with the Roomster.

they should keep them all!! had a look at one the other day, boring car. interior, boring and plain. exterior from behind, mazda 6 anyone?

 I had to respond and the only thing I could think of was a base spec Beemer, I just get fed up with ppl who say things are rubbish for the sake of it, I saw and sat in an Insignia last week and it strikes me as a good car, given my history of VX cars it should be a good car to own as well, but ppl saying it's bland etc obviously must've mistaken it for something else, because bland it certainly isn't, infact I'd say they rank alongside the same nump that turns his nose up at a Skoda and starts the HRW jokes.

I quite like Beemers tbh, it's just you don't get a lot until you go to the options page.

i didnt say it for the sake at all. having had a good look at it the other day, was just bored by its blandness. yeah its got all the modern gadgets on it (the one i looked at was 33k!!) but it lacks any character. cant put my finger on what it is about it that i dont like.

I never minded the Vectra if im honest, my dad had 6 of them over the last few years as company cars and they were all good, no major problems and the fast diesels were great fun. The VXR 'Mid-life-crisis' spec was especially good entertainment for a 20 year old to drive :D on company insurance. I like the Insignia myself, its good looking (shame about the stupid advert though) and you know that in 12 months time they will be dirt cheap on the used market.

I just can't see where you get bland from, it has the look of a coupe, it's presence is fantastic it's one of those cars ppl will stare at for a while and wonder what it is, inside it's all laid out nice, I honestly think if you think it's bland what would you say of a Passat CC, because that has a similar feel to it when you sit in it, and I for one really like the CC also, and the one I saw was a 2.0 SRi @ 20k

Which one did you see for 33k ? I think you were looking at a VXR8 tbh, and with 6.0L under the hood it certainly ain't bland, boring or whatever else anyone could say negative about it.

This is the most expensive I can make it 28k

This is what I think you saw

VXR8 | Vehicle Range | Cars | Vauxhall Motors UK

And the VXR8 has to be seen on the road moving, it's a beast, in the showroom and pictures it doesn't do it justice, one passed me a few mths back in black and I thought I'd got caught up in filming for Mad Max 4 Beyond The North Circular :D

I wouldnt be spending over £25k on one.

If I had that money and more, I'd be getting something a little more sexy and in tune with the price bracket. ;)

I would.. but only if that was 25k in Zimbabwe dollars. :D
