Powder coating standard vrs alloys

Featured Replies

Had my wheels refurbed about a year ago and owing to a recent event involving a high pressure hose they now need re-finishing. Had a really good quote to have them powder coated to try and make them last a bit longer. My only reservation is that I've been advised that they will need shot-blasting first. I expected some kind of stripping process but just wondered whether the previous refurb to kerb damage will stand up to the shot blast. Any help appreciated.

I'd expect whoever refurbs them this time and does the powdercoating will make good any imperfactions after they blast them.

What sort of price is involved for powder coating?

I've got mine to do and I have been quoted £58,00 + VAT to have them refurb'd & painted.

I take it the paint will be ok when they fit the new tyres?

I've been quote £30 per wheel, that includes the shot blasting before powder coat but mine have been refurbed in the past and other than flakey paint, they're pristine. That's why I was asking the original question, the place i'm taking them too are specialist powder coaters, not alloy refurbishers. They had a much better colour range than most refurb companies I contacted (70 shades of metallic grey alone!!)

Sounds like a bargain, shame mine look like the previous owner was saving his brakes by using the kerb to stop :(

take em to the wheel specialists in manchester, excellent service and finish
