VRS seat cleaning

Featured Replies

Hi all, i have a 5 year old (2003) vrs and the seats are in need of a damn good clean.

What options have i got and what methods give the best and most cost effective results? dry cleaning, wet valeting, hoover and those aerosol sprays? Plus any others you have done.

What are everyones experiences, im after doing it/ getting it done soonish but dont want to have to do again for a while.

Thanks in advance

Neil

I use autoglym interior shampoo with a microfibre cloth and it works a treat, best advice is to do a panel at a time.

It's worth paying a professional valeting company to do this on cloth seats. It's all too easy to end up with cleaning stains if you get it wrong. The best chemicals require breathing gear, so not really a DIY job.

If you can get your hands on a machine that's sole purpose is cleaning car seats (it has a vacuum in it and in the same nozzle the thing that sprays the cleansing liquid on the seats), you'll have no problems to DIY :)

Done it several times, and also I've tried the spray bottle stuff and it sucks *** :D

i got my whole interior done for £40, get a pro to do it

if you fancy it yourself, ive found Auto Glym Interior Shampoo in the trigger bottle doesnt leave any stains of its own, worth a try, do a bit at a time, personally i wouldnt try and get it all done in a day as id get bored and rush it

I pay to have mine cleaned professionally. They use a wet vaccum cleaner.

Only £5 a seat and they look brand new after

I use Autoglym's Hi-Foam interior shampoo and a micro-fibre cloth, does the job! works better than the normal interior spray too imo.

Yup......I second that!!

Ive just invested in a Vax V020 wet vac, and to be honest, i dont know how ive lived without one!.....

i used to use Brisk foam, sprayed on the seat/carpet, worked in with brush and wiped over with a damp MF....

i found the cleaner that comes with their machine is fantastic, doesnt leave any marks and more important doesnt leave fabric soaked through... ive also used APC foam in the same way.... foam onto the seat, a good brush and then wet vac out...

i find a second pass with the machine without water really helps remove any excess and the fabric only feels slightly damp to touch....

have a check on ebay as they're always on there for a good price. also, a lil tip, dont wet the headling, most have a card insert in them and you cause them to sag if you get it to wet and renders it useless then!

Mine definately need a sproose up. What's a rough amount I should be paying professionally? And I don't suppose anyone knows a good valeter in Lincolnshire??

Elbow grease and an old damp flannel with febreeze sprayed on it has rescued Lissys interior from toddler welly boots a few times.... waits for the looks of horror...

I use a vax cleaner. Seats come out mint after a good clean!

Best stuff i've used that leaves the least water marks is Tesco's own interior seat cleaner... use an old towel to rub it in... cheap cheap too :)

guys i know it sounds mad but i was desperate the other day trying to get my seats clean and i bought the jml miracle dry thing thats on tv at the moment. Shifted a blue feltip pen mark my wee bro put on the seat. I was using autoglym and everything before that but that jml carpet cleaner is the best thing abought. Mad i know but if it works you cant complain:D

Either a professional valet = somewhere upto £80 or....

Vanish (spray can, not the foaming stuff) = £3 and works a treat, especially for spot stains. Just spray on wipe it in a bit and its gone. Ive used it plenty of times and no problems, fabric is tough enough wearing for it not to be damaged in anyway.
