Rattling From The Roof?

Featured Replies

Hiya,

Well my search for the last few remaining problems on my Skoda are coming to a close. So lets go with the next problem I have, anywhere I drive the car there is an annoying rattling, I am pretty sure it is coming from the roof, perhaps in the area behind the sunroof. Does anyone know if rattling is a common problem in the roof area of Octavia SLXi's ?

Jon

I had a similar rattle which was driving me nutts for months, which I thought was the sunroof, but after searching through the forum, I found it was the handbrake button. Next time I was out, I just slightly pressed the button, and it stopped! Cure I believe is to either cut a piece of clear plastic bottle to the right size to slip around the button, or a small piece of sticky fluffy velcro to the underneath of the button...but as yet, I have not tried either.

Doesn't seem to be the handbrake better, but I know if that sound doesn't stop soon I am taking an angle grinder to the roof to find the problem lol.

Try the wiring to the rear interior lights - that can rattle as well but a bit of foam can stop it

Cool, is that easy to check out without ripping the roof material off?

Jon

Should be OK to just prise them out and then wiggle the wiring/push some foam in there as far as I'm aware.
