Some African Wildlife

Featured Replies

My girlfriend and I went to South Africa this Christmas on holiday and had an awesome time. It was the first time she'd been there so we decided to do all the stuff tourists normally do! :D

Obviously I took loads and loads of photos of everything, but I thought I'd post a small selection of the wildlife we saw while we were there.

Any comments good or bad welcome. :)

I love the pic with loads of penguins and the sea in the background :thumbup:

Prefer Kudu ( the ninth pic )(to eat that is ---not nice things to meet at night on road )

That site does Kudu too, It was quite an expensive site in general but ended up getting ostrich, springbok, wild boar and rose veal for a meatfest (hate turkey) all that was around £100 and it was only about 6 kg all in.

Good few years ago ,but mine didn't cost that - straight from the farm -the animal had the misfortune to encroach on the farm

Thanks!

Interesting site there Bigw2069! I do enjoy my meat, but not sure I'd go out especially and buy game meat over ordinary beef. The same when I lived there, when I did have game, it was normally in biltong form. Did have an awesome impala stew last time though! Hmmm, hungry now.

Nice work:thumbup: Elephant is my fav.

I'd love a chance to capture animals in the wild. Went to the zoo last weekend and took tons of animal shots, they just don't look the same when they're in captivity. Their faces look sort of sad somehow.

Excellent stuff! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Quality images, like the synchronised preening in #2 :)

Thanks for the comments! :thumbup:

Chris.G, I know what you mean, it was amazing seeing such animals in the wild like that, especially when we were able to get so close. You get such a buzz from it too knowing they're wild and you're in their territory. That lion from example was literally lying right next to us.

Postmanpat, we could have spent all day watching the penguins! They're such funny little things. One minute they're running towards the waves, the next minute they're running away from it!

Anyone spotted the airborne baby impala in pic 12? I hadn't noticed it until I got home!
