the longer i have my 54 reg octy vrs the more im convinced the interior is not of a high standard. i say this because almost weekly a new squeak or rattle starts fro the doors or the dash or the rear parcel shelves. i was wondering whether anyone else has the same experience and if they did how did they fix it.

I have a 2001 TDi estate, and the only rattle I get is from my gear lever, when in 3rd. 143k on the clock and counting....

I have a 1999 TDi - no squeaks, rattles or vibrations.

A mate kept getting rattles. In his case it turned out to be an engine mount.

Metallic sound rattle? Could be a window guide? Does it only happen when the window is in the upper most position?

My 01 vRS is pretty rattle free, just the glovebox door catch rattles a little when it's cold.

Most rattles and squeaks are introduced to a car when interior trim isn't put back properly after a repair. Has any work been done to the inside of the car in the past ?

same here mines just started doing it :(

I get slight metallic noises from inside the front doors when I'm blazing the tunes, but then I do have 140 Genesis watts per side going into 6.5 inchs of DLS reference mid. So a little additional vibration is to be expected, no matter how well deadened the car is

Apart from that she's sweet as a nut. Best car I've ever had!

a repair to the elec windows was done and the rattle does happen when the window is in the upper most position. the rattles stop when i push in the door card lightly. i have a feeling something has come loose inside the door and will ask at the next service for them to inspect it(as long as they don't charge a fortune). but thanks for your replys.

2002 TDi; one intermittent squeak from the LH B-post trim, and after nearly 3 years on the roads up here that's quite a feat!

I have seen a few loose window regulators that cause rattles.

99 Octavia SLXi, rattling from roof, or somewhere behind me, god knows where, but its amazingly annoying.

Mine rattles/squeaks a fair bit from the back.

After closing the boot it rattles for 15 miles or so then settles down again :S

It has a few others but its the one from the back that bugs me :(
