Chatsworth Rally Show 2009

Just had an e-mail ref the rally show , looks like we need to get a move on for the Briskoda club stand , looking at getting moneys paid by the end of March to get us a spot for the show .

"Car Club entries are coming in thick and fast and so far the number of cars coming from each club is looking well up on last year, so this years show will be our best car club display yet. We have filled over 65% of the plot so far so I would recommend any club who has not got their entry in yet to get in touch with me and give me an idea of numbers so I can pencil you in, and then get your entry in by the end of March.

As an added incentive to the car clubs, we are offering a competition where all car club entries received by 31st March will be entered into a prize draw, the winner will get a ride around the Chatsworth stage in a rally car (last years winners got a ride in Marcus Gronholm's Focus WRC).

With the third running of the VK sponsored Rally Show at Chatsworth taking place on June 6th/7th, spectators and competitors alike will find lots to be pleased about. As well as an enhanced programme of rally stars and cars, there is going to be even greater interest generated by the programme of rally events taking place over the weekend.

To start with, the 2009 Show programme features a Nations Cup competition in which teams of three cars from any of the European nations will compete against one another on both days of the Show. Only the times of the fastest two cars in each team will count and the total time of those will go to decide the outcome. There are currently teams planned from Ireland, Britain and Germany with hopefully more to come.

Another innovation is that, at the end of both days, there will be a run-off event for the ten fastest cars competing on the stages that day. Rather in the fashion of F1 qualifying, the ten cars will run the stages and then the two slowest will be eliminated. Then the remaining eight will go again with the two slowest once again eliminated until there are just two cars left to do the final runs and decide the winner. On the Sunday, the victor’s prize will be the C.G.Neill Trophy that in the past has always been awarded to the winner of the final event.

Rallying’s history is always well represented at Chatsworth and the Show has its own History of Rallying demonstration involving many ex-works rally cars. In addition, it has always had its own historic events but this year those too have been expanded. As well as individual events on Saturday and Sunday catering for the Historic Rally Car Register’s category 1, 2 and 3 cars ranging from the 1950s right through to 1981, the Show will host Round 4 of the Northern Historic Rally Championship on Sunday morning. The HRCR stops chronologically short of the more exotic Group 4 and Group B cars but rally fans may rest assured that these will feature strongly in the demonstrations on both Saturday and Sunday.

The Rally Show now has a tradition of attracting rally cars not regularly competing in the UK. For instance, those who were at the 2008 show will never forget the spectacle and sound of Olaf Dobberkau’s Porsche 993 which was the second fastest competing car at the show after Steve Perez’s Ford Focus WRC. The Rally Show this year will feature an event for GT and Sports Cars split in three period categories – 1960 to 1974, 1975 to 1986 and 1980 onwards and is likely to attract similar show stoppers to the Porsche and its Aston Martin rivals.

As well as having plenty to look at on the stages, the number of rally cars on display in and around the paddock will also be larger this year. This is possible by virtue of the paddock being moved up much closer to Chatsworth House on the eastern edge of the stages thus giving more room for everything from static displays and trade stands to catering and the fun fair. As the WRC edges towards Super 2000 we will be showcaseing some of this new technology and talks are afoot to have several makes of S2000 machinery running on the stage.

All in all, the VK Rally Show at Chatsworth 2009 has every element present to make this third edition an essential summer visit for both rally competitors, enthusiasts and certainly all those who may never have attended the motor sport spectacle that is Chatsworth. Information on the Show and copies of regulations are available on its web site at The Rally Show at Chatsworth. It is worth remembering that tickets for children, under the age of seventeen but accompanied by an adult, are free.

So get your entries in now, remember if you enter your club before 31st March, you have a chance of winning a rally car ride.

If you need any info or help just drop me a line.

See you in June 2009!"

I'd certainly be interested in the club stand idea, for sure. Going on last year, there was a good sized grass area between where cars were parked and the start of the stage. Plenty of variety too.

Steve

I too am interested in a club stand & I'll be there for both days:thumbup: (Not camping though)

Talking to other people who's clubs/forums had a stand last year, they all said it was an excellent weekend.

Still up for this for a club stand and to probably to camp at this site as it looks great. We are planning a trip to Sheffield, Leeds, Bolton and Liverpool this year so this might tie in nicely and we could make our trip north after the show!

I'm deffo in - just let me know what wants doin and we'll be there + tent!

I'm up for club stand + (?) for the sunday.

Still waiting for an e-mail ref payments / price for the club stand

Also , we could do with a club banner / flyers to advertise Briskoda

yep still ok for both days at the moment, worst case is just sunday but I would like to do both days.

does the site not have a standard leaflet available, thought it did, that we could get a pdf of and run some copies out of?

same with a banner, something in circulation among other members from other shows/days that could be used?

keep us posted.

Just received the following info from James @ the rally show . . .

How many cars can we have on the club stand

There is no limit, the more cars you bring the cheaper 2-day passes become

Address to send the chqs to

Its on the car club application form attached : The Rally Show Ltd, PO Box 6168, Reading, RG19 9DS

How much per car & who to make the chqs payable to

The prices are per person not per car, there is a discount on 2-day passes if you bring over 10 and then over 30 cars. Prices are on the application form attached

Latest when you need the chqs sent in by

4th May but ideally before then, definitely an idea of numbers asap so we can pencil in some space for you

What time to arrive at Chatsworth Sat & Sun

Last year the car clubs had to be on site before 10am and could not leave before 4pm, these times may change slightly and if they are you will be informed well in advance

Does everyone think that we should send the chqs direct to the rally show or send them all to one person to send them off all together ?

We will have to arrange a meeting point for everyone to meet up then all travel into Chatsworth together in convoy for the clubstand

Edited by smog monster

Good stuff, thanks for the info. I was going to ask about total cost, as I may have upto 3 passengers with me.

I think we should send all payments together personally; helps work out who's definitely going to be in attendance :-)

Steve

Double post…

Yeah let is know how much it will be as there will be 2 of us coming in 1 car.

I think one person should collate everrything and then send to the show as it will be easier all round - we cant expect the show to handle multiple cheques and mail from all of us when they have plenty to be doing I'm sure?!

I think one person should collate everrything and then send to the show as it will be easier all round

I agree if someone is willing, but by the look of the application form it needs to be filled in & sent off anyway by the Briskoda club stand organiser. Is that you then smog monster:D??.

I will have a think of a good place to meet up before the show to drive in together:thumbup:

JohnRS (both)

I have had a look on the site and found a PDF doc with prices:

2-day passes (Adults 17 and over) up to & inc 10 cars @ £25

2-day passes (Adults 17 and over) 11 to & inc 30 cars @ £22

2-day passes (Adults 17 and over) 30 cars and over @ £19

Saturday Passes (Adults 17 and over) @ £15

Sunday Passes (Adults 17 and over) @ £20

You need to book 2 nights at the Greenhills Holiday Park camp-site:thumbdwn:

I went to "book" & put the 5th to 7th. Its £36 for one tent pitch for two people. Extra cars are £4 per day. Extra People are £5 & up to 10 people. However I don't know if they will allow more than 1 tent per pitch.

Maybe travel down late Friday? I don't know what the latest you would be able to check in.

Just popped "chatsworth" into my Tomtom for a rough idea for time to get there . . .2hrs 16mins , so prob be looking to set off 06.00 ish from the north east area , stop off half way for a bit brekkie then have a few meet up points on the way to get everyone together

What time are we planning to get on the site for?? I only ask as it gets extremley busy early around Chatsworth especially Sunday with all the ramblers & if we leave things late we will have to contend with all the people that are turning up to visit the show.

I have been talking to the garage owner Andy Moore who has just fitted my tyres. He is going to be rallying his Mk1 Escort during that weekend. I didn't realise that it was a competion for them, with different categories. I've seen the scheduale of the planned running times & I'm going to try & get a copy from him.He told me that last year there is a high number of spectators during the weekend with a hell of alot to see & do.Please don't take this next information as gospel, as this came from him. He told me that me that the Octavia WRC car might be running there that weekend. I've have asked him to find out for definite, but wouldn't that be cool.
