How to drive the Vrs, tips and tricks?

Featured Replies

Booting it in 1st is pointless as usually it just wheelspins, In 2nd,3rd and 4th gear only boot it past 2K revs upto 4K revs as after 4k the power and Torque drop off abruptly and is therefore pointless revving past 4k, in 5th and 6th dont boot it completely until over 3K Revs.

I personally find i have to toe and heel my gearchanges when slowing down through the gears, revs on the diesel seem to drop quickly when pressing the clutch in and i'd rather not drag the clutch between gearchanges. Spacing between brake and throttle is good for this though :)

Kev

How did you get past the DBW throttle

DRIVE HER LIKE YOUR LATE FOR MASS !!!!

I accelerate a lot from 40mph in sixth... am I breaking something???

How?

good tips cheers for these

Everyone is saying they dont like a bootful of throttle below 2000rpm, but since maximum torque is at 1900 rpm, low down grunt is the cars speciality. It's what a powerful tdi is all about.

Mine is re-mapped and goes like a rocket from 1500 rpm. It's hysterical and no probs in over 20000 miles

Thing is, the DMF seriously does not like that much. I have a hybrid turbo and although it will pick up from 1500 rpm, it starts to go properly a bit higher up than that :)

Drive it like a petrol car. Dont hammer it under 2k revs ;)

Argh I usually boot it from around 1800k am I probably doing some damage?

I've only owned it since beginning of November so haven't had much chance to drive it hard on country roads because the weather's been crap but I'll be sure to have a scout around on here before I do

Just try and keep the black stuff on the black stuff, ideally shiny side up!

They understeer like a pig, so trail braking helps the front end bite, and then balance the car with the throttle.

Don't boot it below about 2krpm, the torque demand is huge and will kill your dual mass flywheel.

The brakes don't like too many hard stops on the bouce without fading, so bear that in mind.

In general, remember its a nippy diesel supermini, not a performance car.

Also as Jabbasport said!! The Fabia is very resistant to oversteer, so you can get away with trailbraking well deep into corners - aim for a late apex to get a straight line on your way out and it makes up for the understeer. If the front wheels are still turned on the exit of a tight corner, you have no hope if you boot it. That's certainly the Fabia's strong point when it comes to quick driving, it's so docile you can really push it into corners without getting into too much trouble.

Inverted Briskodan Club contains mostly Furbie drivers.

That's where a Quaife comes in nicely heheh ;)

had my VRS since end of last year and i tend to put my foot down once the revs are over 1500 and change up at 3000. And i always let the car cool down after spirited driving just as a precaution

DBW throttle is ok for throttle blips when toe & heeling through downshifts, obviously still no good for left foot braking.

1. Turn off ASR, boot it at the lights, wait for the smoke to raise past the mirrors, and then you'll take off.

2. Keep your right foot to the floor all the times, so you can hear the car scream. Make sure you get a Phat Exhaust

3. Drive hard and fast into the corners and if it goes wrong use the handbrake

4. Brake on all corners as hard and as late as possible. You will stop, the car can take it .

5. Race as many cars as you can, you can beat them all, even V8 Mustangs.

6. The Rally car looks like a shopping trolley so this means the car can go in supermarket carparks, practise them doughnuts and turns as often as possible

7. Don't forget your Moosic, get yourself a wkd soundsystem. If you point the speakers out the the rear they can help push you along.

8. Lower so low that you can mow next doors lawn.

9. Change the front bumper to something evil, loud and pointy.

10. Finally get some Neon lights and stick them under the door sills.

You forgot to mention putting your back seats down gives you 4bhp and 8 torques.

Errr Will .......I would like too correct you there on your glaring inaccuracy, Only the 2.0l fabia can infact slay the Mustang, the Vrs can mearly "keep up with one":)

Glad you pointed that out - was just about to post summit about that

Stick to the fuel type recommended by Skoda (diesel) and don't be tempted to try another (petrol) even if it is just the once.
