Dashboard Retrm

Featured Replies

I know you can get a lovely leather retrim for the seats and door cards, but i'd like a dash board retrim. For me the standard grey plastic is not good, whereas the standard seats and door cloth is fine (providing they're clean).

Is this possible? I suppose a leather dash retrim is totally out of the question?.

Thanks

Speak to Paul at Seat Surgeons who have done a lot of the leather seats for, members on here.

I'm pretty sure he had done the dash in his Range Rover when I visited.

Certainly what you want is theoretically possible - although I suspect you will be the first so he will need to measure up and make patterns.

Don't think it will be cheap - unless he can see a market for doing others once he has the patterns made up. I can't see it catching on but you never know!

It is possible, your looking at at least £500 though

One idea maybe to get the dash flocked, they use it a lot in motorsport to reduce the glare from the dash someone like flockit would be a start depending on your location.

Kind of O/T but how much would I be looking at to replace the door cards in leather?

I was thinking about this the other night. I'd be up for it if something like this could be done at a reasonable cost!

Count me in!

yep, i'd be interested too...

I had pondered this sort of thing too. Had thought about an alcantara type finish, as per a rally car....

Looks like a good idea Rob. Any idea on costs?

"Suffolk Flocking Services .... I dropped off my dashboard to have it full flushed out, so no drink holders, or heating vents .... and there going to flock it black to match the same colour as my steering wheel. Will take them 2 weeks as they need to place aluminium panels where the passenger air bag goes"

I think it's all down to the look that your going for and depending on how many vents you have.

That looks superb - straight out of a WRC or BTCC car

Not sure whether I'd pay that sort of money though, but they clearly take a pride in the stuff they do

You can get self-flock kits but they don't really have the longevity or wear resistance of a good factory job.

I've though of dash trims/coverings etc but the main issue is always the passenger airbag. Any covering or fittings would likely have to leave a gap and a gap around it. And it's slap, bang in the middle of the areas you'd want to cover.
