  • I imagine this would be a nice car to buy second hand, hate to think of the depreciation from new...

  • Wont fit, the engine bay is just about big enough for the V®6, This engine is relatively small and not much wider than a in line 4. What would work, is a biturbo conversion of HGP (for example). HGP

Yeah was driving it last night in the snow........

in my dreams.

but seriously. I don't think the mpg is that bad given the performance on offer. It's almost a superb vrs. The photo is very apt at the moment

Yes, I would imagine she would be a heavy beast with that lump too, it must be limited to 155mph, I wonder what it would do de-restricted...

i would imagine it would go a lot faster than 155mph. After all it is just a de-tuned R36 Passat engine and it's nothing a drop of REVO or the like couldn't cure ;)

I'm surprised they can get away with calling it a VR6 though

Weird how the battery is in the boot, I wonder if they didn't have quite enough room to cram the V6 in

Batteries in the boot is standard practice on a fair few cars now - German cars seem to be the biggest takers of this idea - iirc BMW say it helps nicely with their 50:50 weight distribution programme.

All Im waiting for is the Superb II Estate with 4x4 and the CR170 engine. Im guessing the estate will be using a different rear light cluster design - hopefully loosing my personal worst design feature of the hatch. :o

It may be because of the heat generated by the engine can boil the battery acid. The 3.6 would kick out a lot of heat when driven hard.

Some cars in the past have their batteries in a cool box in the engine bay

I second that, although I still think it could use more power to be worth the criminal record from the environmentalist/government...

How about a supercharger? Anyone think that would be a possible mod? I reckon it could be done - maybe £8k to do it though... 350bhp?

These things look so cool. How can I get away with ordering a Mocca one with Ivory and then hope no one notices....

If they can put in a 3.6 V6 then why not the 3.0TDI from Audi/Vw? Or even the wonderful 4.2TDI from the A8?

Surely these make more sense in todays economic climate?

Even the 2.7TDI found in the A4/A6 is a cheaper alternative & this puts out some decent power/torque perfect for Haldex setup!

Think the 2.7TDi on the A6 uses a torsen differential to spread the power from axle to axle.

Answer is simple the 3.0tdi and 4.2 tdi are inline engines, the Sokad can only take transverse arrangements

(I think) :P

If you get one in Mocca and Ivory leather fully loaded, put me down for it in 2 and a half years time please.

FairyMuff, that put the end to that one then :)

I have thought that before until I found out the answer, it really is a pity they havent got a v6 tdi in the range, but maybe they can come up with something later on...

Is the new 3.0 Supercharged engine found in various Audis transverse?

Nope .... All A/S4, A/S5, A/S6, A/S8, Q, and RS engines are longitudinal.

But there is no way they are going to put the S4 engine in the Superb, I hope they do, but how can they with the 3.6 producing 260bhp ish and the S4 engine 300 and something!

HGP Turbonachrüstung GmbH

Than there are even more ponies available as the Audis have :D

Hmmm, could you feed your bosses some line about the V6 "improving the brand image" Maybe some people would test the V6, love it, but decide to plump for a 1.8TSI?

You could always raffle it off to the Briskoda members after it's finished demo duties, sell tickets for £5 :D

I'd pay £100 a ticket for a raffle for a 3.6 Superb....

Hi

Sorry to bring you all down to earth, but:

I had the 2.8 V6 Mk I Superb and it was a beautiful car. But, when time came, a few weeks ago, to replace it with a Mk II. the price comparison between the 2.0 170 TDI Diesel and the V6 petrol was frightening.

Calculations based on my circumstances over 3 years gave (for the V6):

The fuel is dearer (about £400)

Depreciation is more. (Using Skodas "solutions" figures, in 3 years the petrol depreciates about £5000 more)

Road Tax is more (£ approx 1000)

Insurance is more (probably £400)

I am sorry but I will have to live with the diesel

Trevor

Cant see the car handling well either , the wheelbase is simply too long , the car i test drove felt a little unwieldly when changing direction quickly its just not suited for it so i think this is a case of too much engine not enough handling
