There We Are Then.......................

Why would I want a VW? I'd only get upset when I couldn't catch the Skoda that had just flew past me

Hmm, smiley fail.

I think I've traced my glove box rattle to the light contact switch on the back of the box. I taped it up the other day to try and get the light to turn off when shut and its mostly stopped the rattle.

Glad to have found this I thought it was only me! It has been driving me batty, I actually fixed it off my own back by putting sticky pads on the rear sides of the holes pictured above.... that worked an absolute treat for two weeks, then we had the spout of hot weather... adhesive melted.. guess what happened!

Rattles!!! driving me mad at the moment.....totally fed up with them! I have fixed the handbrake one, the glovebox still rattles and something in the back backseats/ parcel shelf area is rattle like a bi*th!!!

Cant find what it is, is not the seats or the shelf? but when its hot the rattle disappers any ideas?

All I have done all week is try to sort out the rattles.

I have just done all poly bushes including the dog bone and now the car is rattling to death.

Plastic trim on the boot lid.

Wheel arch liners.

Sheet of wood supporting the carpet over the spare wheel.

Heat shield under the cat.

Exhaust centre section. ("fixed" that with jubilee clips, now it's worse, the whole exhaust is resonating at idle. Changed the idle speed with VAG COM and it's a bit better.)

Glove box.

Ash tray. (turned out to be my tyre pressure gauge in there).

The only problem is that all those noises and the soft dog bone bush were masking the sound of a knackered diff that I can now hear.

Ouch.

*Gmaster* check your rear load bay carpet, the wooden backing can be noisy, I thought it was the parcel shelf at first too.

It's the same in my '02 Elegance. Mine is the rubber door seals, when its colder, the seals are contracted, and they rub on the door ever so slightly but when it is warm outside, they expand and swell and they are in contact more of the time, so its significantly reduced. I usually find turning the stereo up remedies this! (Or a cloth with a wee bit of WD40 or baby oil to 'coat' the rubbers - only temporary mind)
