I never considered looking at these cars because its a vauxhall and I wanted something different, hence why I got a octy but every time i see this 55 plate vectra parked near me I just awe over it. Its a diesel and only really has sporty alloys and thats it, but the presence of it just looks really good.

Im sure if I look closer it will have its imperfections like mine but I always want something new/different.

*slaps head*

RS 2000's were for the chavs of the 70's. RS1800's were for the men who know.

Are yow callin' me a chav ?

I was actually looking at it in the 80's - didn't pass my test until 1984 :P

If you were lusting after an RS2000 with fishnet recaros then yes you were a Chav. Glad youve seen sense and now with a Skoda.

Fair do's - better not own up to liking the HS2300 Chevette and Opel Manta 400 then - maybe I just had a thing about road-going rally cars

Traded in a Seat Leon (only a 1.6 but it was a nice car) for an Audi A2. Thought I'd be getting something special. Pah.

Eventually the dealer gave me another new A2 as the first was so full of isues. The second A2 had just as many, if different issues. Dealer was nothing short of a backstreet cowboy and the quality of Audi products was awful. Vowed never to touch Audi agian. Very disappointed and to this day I wonder why people rave about Audi quality and dealership standards.

back on topic i dont think theres ever been a car ive regretted not buying

Now I am really hurt.....LOL

That's like saying that the Octavia vRS is a car for ch@vs, because the owners can't afford new BMW M5s!

My previous car was an audi A3 2 ltr TFSI (like petrol Vrs) 200BHP 2005 model and wish i got the quattro instead as it eat tyres all the time..... or an older S3 perhaps?

But i love the Vrs with more space and as mine is the 170PD it does a much better MPG than the audi ever did.

Horray for diesel Vrs ....Hip, hip.........horray!!!!

30 years ago I walked past a small used car dealer's premises and saw one of these parked outside - the first and last I've ever seen:

vespa_400_1958.jpg

A Vespa 400, made in France but designed by the scooter manufacturer Piaggio.

The dealer demanded £300 which was an awful lot of money in those days (more than a month's salary for me) so I decided to forget about it. But after 30 yrs I still haven't forgot it...

When my brother was working at Kia they had someone part-ex in a MkII Golf GTI in emerald green with leather interior relatively low miles (117k), bodywork was mint, lowered, lovely, but many engine and transmission issues put me off it. I was also selling the MKII 1.6 driver i owned to buy a diesel Fabia due to mileage i was doing at work. Wish i had taken the Golf, brothers colleague bought it for £500 and still uses it now :(

Ah . . . . ok . . . . now I've thought about it, you're probably right!

Chavs didnt drive RS2000's in the 70's they drove MK3 Cortinas and Mk1 Escorts with jacked up rear ends and red lights over the back axle , often had leopard skin seat covers and fur on the dash. They/we also fitted cherry bomb exhausts and pancake filters and lots and lots of spotlights :):):)

Unmolested RS2000's have always and will always be cool

Back in the early eighties, i had the chance to buy a mk3 Cortina 2000E with the reg. number FYJ 1 on it for £250. The car was MOT'd and taxed for a very short time but was totally rotten.

I thought about it for ages and eventually said no. Imagine what that number is worth now. Still see it going round Dundee on a top line BMW. Hindsight eh?
