Been for a little after work drive this evening, pointing the car down more little lanes & wondering "where does that go?". There's plenty of very big deep ditches if you run out of talent

Called in at the pub and mentioned our planned invasion, landlady checked the diary for any big bookings / weddings etc ... She's fine with us coming,

The car park is CCTV monitored & is overlooked by the police station next door.

Mentioned the outline idea of meet for coffee & map reading, out for a drive, then back for food.

Nearer the date I'll give her a firmer idea of numbers & how many are likely to order food. They can partition the pub, so we can have our own bit for food, she also suggested that food be ordered prior to going for a drive.

So please update the list as appropriate, with numbers of passengers & if you'll be dining.

By the way, Sat 11 April is the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, just in case (like me) you hadn't realised that.

cheers ...Darren

I will try to be there for this one, would be good to meet a few new faces.

this sounds good, I may make a weekend of it and stay at the pub friday and Sat....

Now that's dedication Dave!

Staying at the pub, excellent.

It sells Old Mill Brewery real ales

Looking good chaps and yes a pure symbol of dedication there for ya!

Will be good to see you there looking out of place in the Fiat once again! :P

Although I've never actually been in a new Fiat, let alone a remapped derv, so will save the ridiculing for now :D

Just tidied the list up

And a pretty impressive list it is so far!

What will you be coming in?

Something new I imagine so you can enjoy the drive properly ;).

I hope you all go easy on me as Nelly doesn't do long straights or hills very fast! lol

I was thinking of the 1965 Octavia saloon, which was 42hp when built, so your Felly will feel like an F1 car in comparison! There's 3 or 4 local oldies (Rapids & Estelles) that I'm trying to coax out too.

I've had an idea of how to split people up by sending cars out in groups of 3, alternating clockwise & anti-clockwise, as there's some rural single track roads & meeting a big tractor with 20 cars wouldn't be a good idea.

My printer's broken at the moment, just changed all the cartridges & now it's all gone stripey & the laptop won't even talk to it at all. Hopefully everyone will bring some decent maps (with lots of white & yellow roads on, not just the blue, green & red ones).

It's pretty flat & even below sea level in places, however, there's some surprising jumps where the roads have subsided or where there's drainage ditches & rivers to cross.

I'll probably give the oldies a couple of short-cuts too, just to confuse the big BHP cars!

Also handy for anyone feeling pretty hungry too.

Nice! I've yet to see any proper old Skodas in the flesh. Only ever seen a Rapid.

And it doesn't matter about power it's how you use it and enjoy it that matters.

Do you have an old felicia convertible am I right in thinking?

Good plan!

I could maybe get some maps printed off if you let me know where the drive is planned to be and what area you want covering on the map and run some photocopies off. Although where will I print the maps from? Google maps?

I use a paper atlas AA 4miles:1 inch, (£1.99 at the diesel station),

the print quality is much clearer than the RAC ones.

However for online maps ...

Worldwide map search, route finder and travel directions - powered by Multimap

(choose the ordnance survey option)

or

Streetmap - Homepage

(click the bigger map icon, scale of 1:100k should be ok)

Centre the map on Sykehouse ....

and make sure that you cover Askern (SW) & Rawcliffe Bridge (NE)
