Comedy gold

The point still remains - 140mph (indicated or not), is not appropriate.

It's the law and if caught you WILL get banned. If you cause a fatality in an accident you WILL go to prison.

Whether the road was private or not (probably not), at that speed you are not demonstrating a duty of care to your passengers or other road users.

Lets face two things...

1) Silverstone is a private road and 140 is fine there, the police won't care what speed you do and you won't get nicked for going fast.

2) A furby won't do 140mph, and if the OP has fitted a dump valve to it then it's probably dumping the boost every time it builds up so will be very well down on power.

I don't think either of us know what the point is :)

To the OP: Your turbo has over-boosted and got shut down to prevent damage.

And please, slow down.

But were's the fun in that?

i like the m6 toll.....i'm paying for it,i'm using it 140 pah you can get way faster down that long stretch of private road(indicated of course:D)

Sits back and waits for the furby brigade to flame Mark............................

Oh what the hell, of course a furby will do 140, have you got one..No.. mine had an indicated 144, Tiggers an indicated 140 +( both where 2 up with a load of luggage and std)

Job Done.

And before anyone says anything, it was on a deristricted stretch of German Autobahn. SO it can't have been downhill either :P

Didn't say it was ok to speed at 140 anywhere fella.

Try reading rather than skimming

:rofl::rofl: im wetting myself here!

If his not on public roads he can do as he wishes, its his car end of really.

 me too! at how easily pleased you are

Can't beat the banter on here! Even if it is sometimes at a rather 'basic' level of intelligence

A remapped Furby can do >140 indicated, but indicated on the speedo ;)

Cease Fire

Finds some oil to put on the fire :P

Admittedly it is a stretch to get down to your level of thinking.. so I'm glad I don't have to do it too often. :P:D

I wonder how fast a VRs would go in Holland

I would be most unimpressed if someone passed me at 140mph on the motorway.

Autobahns are made for such speeds and more importantly the speed is expected.

Doing ~140mph in what is basically a normal fabia shopping car (lets be honest) with a few cheap modifications sounds like dicing with death...

Of course it was on a private road so none of this applies.

He obviously wasnt on privtae road - get real, probably has no kind of extra driver training so there were other road users out there too - passing at 70mph is just crazy.

A fine, ban and a stretch in prison would result and I say good job. Boring aint I?

That's a f**king stupid thing to do as a diesel doesn't need one and fitting one will degrade your performance and cause all sorts of issues if it actually functions at all.

The VNT turbo already adjusts itself so there isn't a problem with providing too much boost and also a diesel runs on excess air anyway, so again you don't need to dump the air.

what he said.^^

The point I was making is that the speed is not dangerous, even in a Fabia,it is other factors that may or may not make it anappropriate, so calling the OP names is out of order.

If you or I or anyone else goes to France we cruise on a dual carrriage way at 130 kph (83mph) the speed limit, there are still HGV limited in speed, still poor drivers drinking coffee and not paying attention etc, and all this on a dual carriage way, on the 'wrong' side of the road, and with the steering wheel on effectively the wrong side. Get to Germany and on the unrestricted areas I have no qualms about cruising at 100+ and many go a lot lot faster, no one calls them idiots and C***s. I would also guess that the people in this thread would also drive at much the same speeds rather than the 70mph that our government deems to be the safe speed.

I would also go as far as to suggest that there isn't a single person on the forum with a remapped vRS that hasn't broken the speed limit in this country, and I would suggest that they are safer speeding at xxx on a deserted stretch of private road and concentrating, than they are travelling past a school at 20 or 30 mph whilst staring at the speedo because they know there is a speed camera 10 yard down the road.

IF the op was on a public road then yes he was daft to risk his liberty and if it was a road with traffic then feel free to call him whatever you like.

Come on chaps, everyone settle down. :D This is likely to drag on and on, until a moderator locks it, so let's not get to that stage eh.

fixed link for you

Even at 128mph, thats still at least 58mph over the prescribed limit. With the uneven geography of most parts of the UK (compared with a very flat Germany), i would say that on the balance of probabilities it was 'inappropriate'.

Speed limits are there for a reason. In Germany, there are obviously roads that are long and straight enough to allow discretion to the motorist. Also it must not be assumed that the lack of speed limit is not an invitation to drive as you please.

We are a much smaller country as well, so the level of traffic on our motorways is far more dense, making an unlimited speed limit a waste of time and very dangerous.

Perhaps the original poster was referring to one of that surprisingly large network of private roads that often only seem to be found late at night, by the absence of the public, he thought it was private! (An easy mistake to make officer)

Germany has unrestricted sections in certain federal regions (Lander), by pure coincidence these usually have major car factories based in them. Money talks!

As for the assertion that Germany is flat, hmmm, I suggest you look at a topographical map of Germany. Or travel to other areas if you've only been to the flat bits. Although generally they do put crawler lanes &120kph limits on hillier sections. I've certainly been surprised by some of the curves, crests and lack of hard shoulder etc ... on some older stretches of unrestricted autobahn.

regards ... Darren

If it was a private road, i'm a Dutchman (which i'm definately not)

Even if it was, the fact that it was stumbled upon would suggest that he didn't have permission to enter it. This opens up another legal argument regarding the law of trespass.

So either way - he's f****d! :rofl::rofl::rofl:

It's your car's way of telling you 'stop being such a c*ck, and slow down before you kill someone'

If you 'stumbled' upon this private road, i am guessing it wasn't THAT 'private'?

You won't impress many here with stories containing such levels of stupidity.

I was just wondering what my car did when it spluttered. As that insurance ad says, "calm down dear".

It really was a private road, no others around to harm other than myself, im not that selfish / stupid, and have too much fun in the furby to do anything stupid and wrap it round another car. And i couldn't care less if i asked the owner to use it or not, it was there, and we used it, end of, the owner should have closed the gate, lol. Ide love to see you at a track day marky, standing at the side of the track waving people to slow down. At least i did it on a private road and didn't risk anyone elses lives other than my own. Its funny how you read "private road" as "quiet road at night".

Thanks to postmanpat for writing what i would have wrote, if i had been on yesterday.

No need to swear, and it works perfectly well thank you. Although Its more just the sound i got it for. Love it!

Definately decreaces performance a little, but the chip compensated for that.
