140mph then sputter :P

Featured Replies

i like the m6 toll.....i'm paying for it,i'm using it 140 pah you can get way faster down that long stretch of private road(indicated of course)

the police love this road as so many people think its private and excluded from public road acts e.g. speed limit when actually its still covered.

Lets face two things...

1) Silverstone is a private road and 140 is fine there, the police won't care what speed you do and you won't get nicked for going fast.

But most people going around silverstone will know that traffic around will be moving at a faster pace and no doubt briefed before going on there. iirc slow drivers are usually removed as they are a danger and so are dangerous drivers which makes driving around silverstone much safer at speed to a public road.

I wonder how fast a VRs would go in Holland

ffs, just stop it now, im hurting from laughing too much! lol.

I love the do gooders in here who will moan about someone doing 130/40 mph, on a dead motorway/pivate road, but will be the stupid ***** who pull right out in front of a bus without thinking twice.

Anyone in germany that can confirm the roads are flatter, straighter, and more "made" for 140 than our ones please?! bahahahahahahahahahaha

I have to say this thread has really made me smile,

Surely every one who drives has at some point done something questionable in a car, either speeding or driving in a dangerous manner either by accident or on purpose, so to take the moral high ground and say how terrible it is what the guy has said he's done is surely a little hypocritical, he only asked a question, not to be judged !...... lol, glass houses and stones springs to mind, hehehe

Ah well,

Only thing I can say is that my speedo and Garmin sat nav never agree with each other, in dash speedo always over reads compared with sat nav, steady 85 on speedo is 78 on sat nav (on the M1 and M62 today), I'll stand by to be called a speeder now ;-).

I showed a mate of mine the video I made on a de-restricted stretch of autobahn when I was doing 130mph+ (GPS speed), he was shocked because the road was just 2 lanes and about the same width as a normal fast dual carriage way.

Large sections of the autobahn are NOT gleaming 10 lane wide roads, they are little more than fast A roads. The difference is the drivers tend to move over unless they are overtaking, the standard of driving in general is better, but you still get lane hoggers.

Another valuable comment towards the discussion

Why would anyone pull out in front of a bus??? I've had a bus pull out in front of me and yes that is annoying. Luckily i was doing an appropriate speed so was able to compensate for their mistake.

At 140/128 you are basically saying "i'm going to go as fast as possible and sod anyone who gets in my way". The roads would be a better place if we all worked as a team instead of being selfish whether it be hogging a lane and slowing the flow of traffic, or driving at such speeds that the margin for error is greatly reduced.

I would like to see you put your arguement accross to someone who has lost a loved one due to excessive speeding. I doubt you would be so c*ck-sure then. ;)

Yup, but you can undertake.

I loved driving in Germany on the roads between Rosenheim and Augsburg when I went ther for work several times for a year. The roads between Munich and Augsburg are single carriageway with overtaking.

The main difference is lane discipline and lorrys being restricted at overtaking. Plus variable limits work due to high fines when in force.

The UK could learn a lot.

Normally to get out in front of something that will slow them down, prob happens a good few times a day.

At 140 im saying nothing cos i`d be too busy concentrating on what im doing, more so than alot of traffic on the roads. Aside from the fact that the man in question was on a privte road, so it doesnt really matter.

The excessive speeding prob didnt kill them, but the person who failed to check there mirrors etc :thumbdwn:

if your after valuable comments, then i`d look else where, im just bringing some light hearted banter to the people who are on here who think there the worlds best driver because they dont speed

I wonder if this thread will splutter to a halt when we get to 140 posts

I'd say it's been spluttering for awhile.. :D

OP- Which chip do you have to get 180BHP? Standard clutch?

:clapclap:

Its a Dastek piggy back powerplug. Only say its 180 as i can pull away from my mates cupra which is apparently about 180 brake.

Can only use all the power above 3000 cause the clutch slips. (standard)

On the website it looks more like 170brake. . . but as they say, no engines the same. . .

oh sorry there is a thread about that already.

just stop your moaning anyhow, i got 102mph out of my diesel pickup on the gps, i'm sure that is much more dangerous than vrs doing 140mph. but i did do that on the autobahn so you tell me who was safer?

Look left, look right. You've just travelled 200m at 140mph.

Safe on a UK road - never under any circumstances.

Perhaps the OP would just like to name the private road so we can all calm down.

If not, I hope he gets banned before he kills someone.

i have to ask,how often do you use this road i hear this a lot about police on the toll,i pay about £150 perweek using it and have never seen a police man anywhere near it;) and have done for the last couple of years

That's absolutely right. Driving standard are much higher on the Autobahn, whereas when doing 130 mph+ in this country, the buggers never move over and I have to resort to flashing, bibbing and the constant use of my middle finger. This country

The point I was making is that the speed is not dangerous, even in a Fabia,it is other factors that may or may not make it anappropriate, so calling the OP names is out of order.

If you or I or anyone else goes to France we cruise on a dual carrriage way at 130 kph (83mph) the speed limit, there are still HGV limited in speed, still poor drivers drinking coffee and not paying attention etc, and all this on a dual carriage way, on the 'wrong' side of the road, and with the steering wheel on effectively the wrong side. Get to Germany and on the unrestricted areas I have no qualms about cruising at 100+ and many go a lot lot faster, no one calls them idiots and C***s. I would also guess that the people in this thread would also drive at much the same speeds rather than the 70mph that our government deems to be the safe speed.

I would also go as far as to suggest that there isn't a single person on the forum with a remapped vRS that hasn't broken the speed limit in this country, and I would suggest that they are safer speeding at xxx on a deserted stretch of private road and concentrating, than they are travelling past a school at 20 or 30 mph whilst staring at the speedo because they know there is a speed camera 10 yard down the road.

IF the op was on a public road then yes he was daft to risk his liberty and if it was a road with traffic then feel free to call him whatever you like.

What names did I call the OP?

What names did I call the OP?

I was reffering to this post:

It's your car's way of telling you 'stop being such a c*ck, and slow down before you kill someone'

If you 'stumbled' upon this private road, i am guessing it wasn't THAT 'private'?

You won't impress many here with stories containing such levels of stupidity.

Which I thought was evident from the text, but obviously I was wrong.

140mph.... rubbish.... 2.0 Furby will go quicker!!!!!

I've just read this thread and wish I hadn't bothered....

There are some d!ckheads on this website, it makes me wonder why I bother visiting it at all sometimes.

Those of you who know me, know exactly what I mean..

i have to ask,how often do you use this road i hear this a lot about police on the toll,i pay about £150 perweek using it and have never seen a police man anywhere near it;) and have done for the last couple of years

ive seen them twice at the north end of the toll road in a marked car, few times in a unmarked volvo and also a mondeo looking car (all dark vehicles) patroling various sections.

Ive only managed 149mph out of my Ibiza im afriad guys, sorry

Ive done more than 70mph on a public road too, shoot me, shoot me down....

ive actually been thinking on speed limits etc, i cannot recall ever there being an accident on the m6 toll road, therefore as an experiment how about the government use this stretch of road to increase the speed limit to 90mph and see how it works out, even if they only agreed to 80 it be a start ;)

That's absolutely right. Driving standard are much higher on the Autobahn, whereas when doing 130 mph+ in this country, the buggers never move over and I have to resort to flashing, bibbing and the constant use of my middle finger. This country

I find that fitting flashing blue lights & a siren helps to shift them.

Obviously remove them for the m.o.t.
