Code Question

Featured Replies

A while ago I had the cars dash pod changed under warranty (octy II) but realised that I didn't get a new SKC with it.

I assume the code I need to code new keys is the SKC, so the questions I have are:

- Would the SKC have changed on the change of dash pod (I'm assuming it does)

- Since the dealer can no longer see the code to give it to me, is there any way I can get the thing?

Thanks

iirc you can with a program called vag tacho

Some tools will extract a code for you, I believe it is now VAG policy not to pass the codes to customers.

Not so much as a policy we just dont see them anymore. The VAS machine does it online, when it works.

I have used VAG tacho successfully before. I don't have it myself but found a local VAG garage place that had it. I got the SKC code for the white fabia I had in a matter of seconds (pretty much)

Yeah I know about that but all new dash inserts I have seen have 2 scratch off stickers on them the same as you'd normally find on the large plastic key tag with a new car.

my skc is stuck inside the service book.

Aye, the lads at the dealer i use are a good bunch and would have given it to me if they could. As said they no longer see it.

What does it look like please? I'm pretty much 100% certain I didn't get a plastic fob with mine and I need the SKC. Before I take it to Skoda, I'd love to know if it's in the service book.

ill try and dig it out tomorrow but its the same as what comes with the dashpod and iirc the plastic tag on the keys.

Just came across this post as I was looking for something else and wanted to clarify something - if you have a new instrument cluster for any reason the new cluster takes on the SKC of the car, i.e. the SKC doesn't change. If done manually (i.e. not at a dealer) there is a temporary SKC provided with a new cluster and once adapted this SKC becomes useless. Same goes if fitting a second hand cluster.

So if I have the SKC sticker that came with the car then I should be ok using that for keys etc?

Yes indeedy  Try logging in to your immobiliser with the SKC (remember to preceed it with a 0) to test. No need to actually try coding the key, just try logging in.
