top centre windscreen vent

Featured Replies

Does any anyone know how to remove this? I am not talking about the one with the hazard switch in, but the one designed to blow air onto the windscreen?

I want to mount a small camera on the dash, looking out through the windscreen, and this seems the sensible way to attach the camera so, as I can do it without drilling any holes, etc (temporary installation).

Cheers,

Matt

I think I remember seeing this done in the Haynes manual....

Relying on photgraphic memory here! But, I think you disconnect the sunlight sensor first (remove small cover around it then remove 1 retaining screw), making sure you don't then lose it into the dash, then pull the vent up.

Don't take my word for it though!

Arh... if it is mentioned in my Haynes manual, I'll go grab that from the car and have a look. Sunlight sensor - I never knew it had one - what does it use that for? Auto lights on or something - on the top trim levels?

Cheers

Naa it's for the climatronic aircon system. Controls the blower and the temparature flap, in line with sunlight intensity. Funky huh!

I thought you couldn't remove that vent, its bonded to the dash, all you can do is remove the sun sensor thing. Might be wrong though.

if its only temporary then why dont you bend some zip ties back on them selves and thread them through the vents until the ends pop back out

Have just bent a tie-wrap around it.... might be more stable with two, but got one on for the moment. It does look as if the main vent is bonded to the dash top.

I used a piece of bent wire first, adn then taped the tie-wrap on and pulled it back out :-)

Just going to take car, camera and laptop out for a drive :-)

Ideally I want to speed the video up, but this was my first attempt, and my first play with youtube too.

crank it up to benny hill speed.

One question though - why?

crank it up to benny hill speed.

One question though - why?

That is the next plan - speed wise, once I can find some software and figure out how to use it!

Why - I saw some footage on the bbc news site of some of their camera driving through the snow in the new forest (speedy though) and though it looked quite cool. I fancied making my own video of my drive to work.

fair enough, unfortunately my drive to work is rather dull and speeded up would dull but over quicker.

My drive in is 60 miles, so bits of it should look interesting... :-)

(no soundtrack though)

It's like going to work round the ring...

You know what sound you need to put to it.
