Featured Replies

I am current getting fitted a

KO4 turbo

4 Bar fuel regulteor

Re-map to both above

Miltek exhaust with fast flow cat.

Enlarged turbo inlet.

Hyperbosst diverter valve.

i have been told that i don't need a new intercooler.

should be about 275 BHP.

Has any one any options on what else i can do or what i need to doo

cheers (ebay)powertuningsales.

Bigger brakes I'd have thought :)

I was planning to use the hedge for brakes

Sounds like a plan :D

I'd say ditch the cat! Probably better off with a de-cat pipe.

How much is all this setting you back?

 i have a genuine cat off of a Seat leon 20vt and was thinking of knocking its inners out:eek: any one know how to turn the CEL light out though as it WILL come on:confused:

:D Phil

K04 should be good for 280bhp

K03 240bhp with right mods

280 brake sounds wicked :)

but ooh i have too many questions...

I for one am completely confused too...

I thought that if you went for a K04 then you would definately have to upgrade the cooling i.e Front mount or twin side intercoolers

I did think that the major downside of the K04 would be that it overheats much more easily than the high flow K03

I am only a bolt on man at present so any insight anyone could give would be great

Yours,

Confused

This was my response from APR in Usa:-

Your best bet is to contact the Jim at Awesome GTI, but you do not need a intercooler, but it will help sustain the power. And a exhaust will help out with the power.

Thank You,

Front mount IC would be nice, and has been on my long term shopping list for ages, one day I will stop having to buy other stuff and can get one. In the meantime, KO4 with OE IC should work quite nicely. I don't have too many and didn't seem to suffer too much yesterday during the heat of trax at Silverstone. The torque rather than bhp will make you grin and grin each and every time..... :D:D:D

Allard Turbosport are doing a Front Mount for the Octavia, Hopefully it will be finished by tomorrow night, I will post my thoughts, looks like a couple more hot days to test it

Lee,

the Jabba front mount will be sorted on the 18th Sept with a production run being targetted for the end of the month.

Not long now...check out Group Buy section fro more details.

Id been talking to Jabba for a while but unfortunately things slipped back mainly due to their move so I had to source one elsewhere in time for the Cannonball. Will be interesting to compare the 2 once someone has a Jabba one. Doubt if it will beat the Jabba one on cost as its a one off.

Aye...been trying to push the FMIC though but what with the move and other things it wasn't to be.

Allthe best for the CB Stuart.

Ditto, Ive been pushing for it seems like ages & it almost worked. Jabba are fitting a boost controller on Thursday & having a play with the map, will be interesting to see what the think of the front mount, obviously it wont be as good ;)

Thanks for the good wishes re the Cannonball, this time next week I will hopefully be nearing the end of the first stage if previous years are anything to go by & about 1000 miles done

an FMIC would help..

Awesome are more than a little familiar with my K04's Octy... IHI would give more power but only at silly money......:D

There is no way you'll get 275-280BHP from the mods you've listed. I have very similar mods PLUS an APR front-mounted intercooler, AEM CAI, Milltek downpipe and sports CAT, etc. and I got 255BHP and 270lb/ft of torque. The bigger K04-025 found on the S3/Leon Cupra R, etc. will obtain 275BHP but that is a different K04 to the bolt-on 001 fitted by APR etc. Using the stock side intercooler will do you no favours at all.

theres your prob.. your intercooler is far too small.. as for the 001 being less powerful than the 025 then you seem to be confused.... having been running round with an 001 with "plenty of power" that has been witnessed by many on here it is more than possible.. set up correctly the 300 mark is easily do-able..

I was led to believe the K04-001 was not capable of matching the larger K04 in regards to power? Maybe not then! What sort of power and mods do you have then - tell all!!!

maybe its the gas flowed head but mine seems to have no trouble eating the horison... comfortable out dragged the 911 and or the ZT or M3's or GT3's or pretty much anything this side of 600hp supra in a straight line...

turbo / fmic / apr s/w + v tune samco's +inlet pipe are the fundamentals on top...

just to clarify it ate Awesomes real K04'd TT for breakfast and spat it out at brunters....:D

and i was short shifting at 5k cos fueling was out....

I think the key things are weight and inertia.... both physical and flywheel weight.... are the key to a "very" agile and quick car.. generally speaking most "road cars" are never going to achieve this unless you abandon our day to day comforts.

awesomes TT was similarly specced and nearly as lightly trimmed... (with them damn sexy alu race seats!) and pretty damn quick...

but defo didnt seem like it had more boost/power from its K04 over mine?

  • 2 years later...
