Open Cone Induction Kit On VRS??

Featured Replies

Can you get a open cone induction kit on a VRS? if so is it any good? what sort off noise does it make? or am i just better getting a uprated panel?

1: Yes

2 Depends

3: Phaaarp

4: Nout wrong with the OEM filter

And you'd want your engine to breathe in warm air because....

:)

I brought one when I had just a re-map. Was very dissapointed with the lack of noise it gave... nothing like a petrol induction kit. Didn't notice any drop in power / torque but it did seem to rev better. Now i've got a hybrid Turbo it sounds Soooo much better

hmmm once my hybrid is on i may have to consider this!

An uprated panel filter would be much better than an open cone induction kit mate due to it not taking in warm air from the engine, if your feeling flush aswel you could allways get the £80 intake pipe from the Ibiza Cupra 160 to aid breathing even more. but TBH its only worth getting those if your car is re-mapped too.

get one of these babies :)

I'm running an BMW M3 induction kit ;) sounds very throaty and you get "chatter" through it when changing gears between 1500-2000 rev

Oh and mine is shielded

Where did you get the BMC from jasc1988?

And where did you get the BMW one from Dovit?

Cheers

Straight off my mates M3 (when he had it..........)

Here's the vids, it was mainly for the exhaust but you can hear the induction kit a bit

Oh, and its NOT wheelspin

What exhaust is that and is it a De-cat?

custom straight through and the cat is still in place.........not sure if i should de-cat as i dont fancy popping the turbo...................(can of worms anyone??? :P)

that sounds smart, so is not decatting it not putting any strain on the turbo??

I brought one when I had just a re-map.

bought !

there's SOOOOO many posts etc about this subject on "will de-catting my exhaust blow the standard turbo"

TBH i dont know what to think, hence why i've left the cat in, although i do know of some who have de-cats and have no issues on the standard turbo.........

pic taken before it was shielded (tbh i didnt feel ANY difference in performance after i shielded it...)

Well I e-mailed Jim at StarPerformance because he had a Fabia running around the 230 mark so thought if anyone would know it would be him lol

He said that it's total rubbish and a de-cat is fine to run. Hence I've just ordered a Milltek one.

cool, i was only going with the hundreds of threads i've trawled through on the site.........i can see a custom de-cat coming on soon lol

That would have been on a hybrid turbo though. Does he recommend doing it with a standard turbo??? You can appreciate my waryness of de-catting lol

Yeah well I didn't mention hybrid turbos so I'm guessing if there was a problem on either turbo he would have said. I too am way however I've yet to hear directly from somebody who can prove a de-cat damaged their turbo :)

do some searching bud.........a good few people "THINK" thats the cause ;)

Yeah I've read all the threads already :)

It will be getting mapped at the same time so I'm sure the map will take it in to account.

I asked for a clutch/turbo friendly map on mine  still goes like stink and sounds good.........might just take the plunge on a de-cat.............

There is one thing that confuses me.

On this video when he lifts off after reversing you can hear the pigeon type noise.

Isn't that compressor stall?
