Info on the new Sky HD EPG

Featured Replies

Found some links to the new EPG on avforums earlier.......

The following are links to both the new info / guide being sent out to existing Sky HD subscribers and also the new manual included with new boxes.....

Existing customer guide

New instruction manual

http://redirectingat.com/?id=223X354&test=off&url=http%3A//www1.sky.com/HDGuide/pdf/HI%2520version_1.8_final_thomson_d.pdf

Existing subscribers should be getting the new customer guide through the post over the next week or so and the boxes will start being updated from the 10th March apparently.

Usually rolls out with the most common boxes first so all you Thomson owners will be first to get the new EPG with the rest of us following over the coming weeks.

Cheers

Dave.

Any updates for Sky+?

I miss the option to press i when scrolling through the onscreen box (when watching something) to view info on the selected channel, unlike it's behaviour where it shows you what you're already watching

HD boxes only i'm afraid. No news as yet on when or if this will be moved to other sky boxes.

I think it's because there could be people out there with early sky digiboxes and early plus boxes which would be unable to run the newer epg.

I thought they could select which boxes to push to?

I know some boxes are on a later EPG than my box as the same EPG version as me on those boxes caused issues with recording stuff, and missing EPG data. The main sympton is in the planner when looking at recodered, or to view stuff the program name says "Searching listings" and the date "?????"

What i meant to say is none HD boxes may be unable to run the new epg.

That's what happens when your talking to someone on the phone and typing on Brisky at the same time. :D

Hurrah! about bloody time! I really missed the info feature from me old cable box, where you could view info on programmes on other chanels that you weren't watching on the on screen bar.

Looks pretty good!

Looks good... the one thing that frustrates me a little bit is that it's so easy to watch the normal channels and forget that there's an equivalent HD channel. Would be great to see a feature that tells you that it's also on HD and would you like to watch that etc. I think it's the Humax boxes that do that already?

Good call! I'd also like to see the old cable feature whereby if you set a reminder for a programme you want to watch, the box will automatically switch channels when that programme begins.

It does that anyway doesn't it ????

Nope! It just displays a reminder bar saying that the programme is about to start, and you have to actually lift the Sky remote off of the coffee table, and use your oposable digit to press the select button to change the channel, by hand!

It's like living in the iron age I tell thee! lol

My ancient Pace sd box did I'm sure, tbh I've never checked on the spangly hd box because I just record nowadays

It's like living in the iron age I tell thee! lol

Back to the future .......with sky+

If you're a geek like me you have all the HD channels set up as favourites so you can just press blue and scroll through just the HD channels.... Plus if your like me you know which channels are simulcast and switch to the HD version of the program you're watching......

You would have to be certified techno geek like me though. :D

Its already set up on my box, Just press TV guide and number 2 underneath All Channels, is HD channels which you can browse all programme data for just the HD channels.

but using the favourites you can continue to view the channel and not get a full screen of TV guide and miss something you are watching. I have also done the favourites thing on my box. Looking forward to the new guide, the current one looks very dated. Having a thomson box thats nearly 2 years old should mean I get it fairly soon.

Yep that's the benefit of using the favourites for the HD channels.:thumbup::thumbup:

Have just been watching a guy on a Sky HD sales stand in Meadowhall shopping centre using the epg and new now/next banner while i was waiting for the mrs to come out of a shop.

Must admit it did look a lot nicer than the existing epg.

ITV HD is available to add as an "Other Channel" via the services menu. This is only available when using the new EPG and i can confirm that as i don't see it when trying to add it on our HD box.

Details as follows for you guys as/when you get the new EPG.......

And the channel is called 10510.

As Bleeding Gums Murphy once sang:

I woke up this morning, (der der der der)

My Sky box had changed (der der der der)

My sky + arrived last weekend. How have I managed without it ?

Anyone else tried the iPad app that lets you control your Sky+ HD box?

It's very impressive but totally pointless :)

Agreed is impressive I find it more convenient to use iPad to browse the guide etc and search function easier also

I really had my hope up and thought the app would let me watch my recordings in another room devastated when I found out its just a remote.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Be good if you could stream recorded program's to you iPad.
