VRS Octavia TDI question

Featured Replies

Hi All, What a great site!

We are hoping to buy a 07/08 Octavia VRS TDI. We are hoping to stretch the budget to a common rail but may end up with a PD unit as they are considerably cheaper.

We do a lot of towing to hopefully after cruise control - does anyone know if this can be fitted if we can't find a car with it as standard?

And finally any real life MPG figures? Skoda reckon high 40s but this seems high for a car with so much grunt!

Hopefully we can find one this Saturday!

Cheers

Paul

Cruise control can be fitted afterwards, plenty of info on here.

Real life MPG varies, low to mid 40's is probably more realistic.

Welcome to the site :)

Hi

Welcome to Briskoda

Cruise control can easily be retro-fitted so don't worry about it, if you can't find one with it on. Your local skoda dealer can do this, or even some members on here could do it for you, such as Vrstu or Lummox.

Not sure as regards Mpg on the Vrs, but my PD140 gets into high 40's early 50's regularly on my short commute to work.

I'm sure a vrs tdi owner will be along shortly to answer that better for you.

IMO I would go for the PD and save a fortune. Try and get one with xenons though, everything else, eg maxidot, mfd2/3, parking sensors, can be retro-fitted easily.

Also, there is a lot more PD's out there to choose from.

Good luck with the search,

Damian

welcome along, i second what damo has said and say give stu and lummox a shout!!

Welcome in.

MPG - mine's now got about 12k miles on it (they reckon 15k is required before they start to give best mpg) and I am getting about 40 as an average. On a decent motorway run where I don't spank it too much I can get about 45. Stop-start town can see it down in mid-30s.

My overall trip meter (reset about 2500 miles ago) says 39.9mpg average as of arriving at work this morning. That's about 60% motorways, the rest traffic, town and spannering about in the countryside when the police aren't looking. A good ballpark figure.

Thanks for this guys. Now down to the hard sell on Saturday! Hopefully £11k and a 10 years old A4 1.8T will secure us a VRS estate.

Paul:)

Start and stop (town) - about 38-42 mpg / motorways - it depends how u driving :P heh .. but over 50mpg - max what i get was about 60mpg - but its not driving :P ... about 60-70mph ... :)

Good luck with the shopping!
