Group Buy - Polo Aero Rear Wiper for Fabia Mk 1

Featured Replies

I've read a couple of threads recently about the VW Polo Aero Rear Wiper for the Fabia Mk1.

Its a mod that's been around for a while, and quite a few members have done it - try a search, or have a look at http://briskoda.net/fabia-i/rear-aero-wiper-part/121592/ for some discussion and a piccie.

Fitting is relatively easy, although filing / sanding down the cap a little bit is recommended to make sure it clears the glass.

I asked Pulman Skoda (one of the new site partners) for a price, and they quoted £23.10 plus £5.00 postage.

If we can get 5 or more, they will throw in the postage for free, so £23.10 delivered - with payment direct to Pulman. I think Paypal is preferred but I'll check if other options are available.

This Group Buy is not an offical BRISKODA organised buy, and therefore BRISKODA CANNOT be held responsible for any wrong doing that may occur.

I'll let this run until we get the minimum numbers required, or until Sun 22nd March 2009 latest.

Many thanks to Chris at Pulman Skoda for working with me on this one - I'm not sure if he joined a Skoda site to sell VW bits but thats life!!

Names on the list below please....

p.s Andy might be a good idea to put what is exactly included as not everyone will have seen the original thread.

Thanks Bobjim - just to confirm, its the full wiper assembly and includes....

Aero wiper arm

Aero wiper blade

Cap

Just to confirm that this is a very neat mod for the rear wiper indeed. And you can get £20+p&p for the old wiper setup on seatcupra.net, selling it as the "Leon Fabia wiper mod" ;)

Nice a$$ Jason

Thanks Andy, what about the car? :P That is actually a real old shot, but one thing which remains is the polo wiper. :)

Are the modifications to this easy enough to do? Could anyone give me a walkthrough guide as to what is involved?

Got mine £5 from the scrapyard (just the arm of a rolled Golf) and went to VW and paid £10 for the wiper and cap

WaveyDavey says he did both his Fabias in 10 mins - see post #5 in http://briskoda.net/fabia-i/rear-aero-wiper-part/121592/

I think its just one 13mm nut, but I'll go and check

OK - I was right - it is one 13mm nut.

Since I wrote the post above, I've grabbed a spanner, gone outside, removed and refitted the existing arm.

And I'm a mechanical numpty so if I can do it anyone can.

There's also a bit of sanding / filing to do on the new unit, but nothing major.

So £15 for the bits, plus fuel to scrappy plus fuel to dealer plus your time.

I think that makes £23.10 for a brand new one delivered to your door look like a very good deal!

Right, I'm in.

Whats so good about them?

Whats so good about them?

I think people have changed partly because they prefer the look of them, and partly because of reports of improved wiping performance.

Its each to their own though - as Jason said above a lot of Seat owners have added Fabia wipers!

I changed mine due to the fabia one kept scraping the back window

Whats so good about them?

There are much more quiet than the OEM ones, no rattling at all!

I did mine , took the wiperblade from the octy, cut 1" off the end and i have the original length

, so the 3th brake light is cleaned also; works fine!

Anyone?

Only one more to get this up and running......

Don't be fooled by the current spring weather - you know its going to rain again soon!!

Bump - need to get five by the end of today.

come on people, just one more!!!

Excuse my ignorance, but how do we pay? :D

think andy was going to get us to pay the dealer direct and then they send direct to us!!

If this is still going I'm in.

Was going to get the Stealer to replace my rear wiper when the car goes in for service tomorrow but will do this instead as everytime I wash the car I either rip the sponge or cut myself on the rear wiper. (yes I know it is stupid - but I seem to do it every time)
