Bit of beading, not that impressive - New pics post #27

Featured Replies

There not dear and they let the wax go on easy. Collonites a good wax, last ages and protects the car. Thats the best thing for a silver car. Just a good sealant. Post up after pics :P

Some new pics of fresh rainwater this morning, after collinite was used. Is this any better? Still not perfect beading I reckon.

Looks much better Jason, Colly 476 works quite well being applied with a damp microfibre cloth, let dry to a haze and buff off. I have a couple coats of the 915 on mine and the beading is awesome!

Happy detailing

I used a megs applicator thingy that had been lightly sprayed with quick detailer. Read that on detailing world forum. I probably should have regularly given it a spraying though as once done I just went back to the wax tin all the time.

I used Meg's gold class polish to get the beading shown on the Polo.

I generally 2 bucket wash, dry with waffle towel to get most of the water off, then use a quick detailing spray with microfibre cloth to complete the drying process and get any water marks off. Then apply the polish with the applicator sponge, allow to dry and then buff off. Make sure the cars cool when doing it though. I had mine in the garage and just swapped it round to do the other side to make sure I wasn't doing it in direct sunlight.

Another one I took during the week. I think conditions must have been perfect for beading as it had formed very uniformedly indeed. The amount of water coming down the rear screen when I drove off was biblical!

That's when it's right for a road car, rather than a "show n shine trailer queen", is when you can dry it off after rain by driving down the road at 30ish.

It's going to need a full "detail" at some point. I need to get it back to this condition on one weekend, then use the collinite 476s wax. I still have not got any clues as to the best way to apply it, given I have nothing more than polishing cloths, and the like....

Basically get to microfibre cloths and use one to apply the wax lightly. do a panel then wipe off with the other MF. when the car is done go round a second time. What i find is best is to just wax car on weekend one after washing it, weekend too do the same and by weekend 3 you should only have to just wash and dry the car, then you will see real beading ;)

edit: just seen this weeks attempt, much better beading and should last you about 3-6 months depending on road dirt, washing etc.
