Hi @ all, a german has entered the circle ; )

Good morning to all ...

my name is Carsten I am from Bonn, Germany.

I own a 1.9TDi Octavia ( Is it called Station Wagon in the UK ?)

Well, its "nature-green", a little bit lower and expecting

some more work to be done in the winter ;)

Inspired by seeing a member of briskoda.net

at the N

Welcome Carsten

We call them Estates, or to use the official Skoda terminology, Combis :)

I suspect you may have bumped into Manny (Mannyo) at the Ring, he drives a lowered red Octavia RS and i believe he was there at the weekend.

I see you too are a fellow night shift-er, hence my recent posts at this stupid hour :)

Welcome to Briskoda.

Welcome on board!

:wavey: welcome

:wavey:

Hi, Carsten! :D Real Skoda (above) used to be a regular visitor to the Ring back in the days when he owned a vRS. However I hear that he now drives a diesel.... :(

Wilkommen! :wavey:

I would even say Herzlich willkommen!

'Stationwagon' is the correct term in Dutch - another one of those Dunglish words where we think we are talking English while the English use another term altogether...

Station wagon is a US term - but similar roots - Estate/Station in the sense of the owner's country land.

Ah, so another blatant example of McDutch then...

So, yes, it could have been Mannyo at the Ring in sunday.

Definately it was a red RS ( And what i have seen so far, he did well on the

track :) )

But to be honest, i rather like to sit beside and watch the others risking ther car

Perhaps next or in two years, but better not now with my car for everydays use.( You should always have a "spare car" if you are serious beating up your own one un the track )

If there are more other enthusiastics, interested in riding there, just let me know early enough. I would be pleased to get to know some new peoples.

Perhaps i can be helpful, looking for a hotel, general informations about the

Ring, or other things.(for example: local dealers in need of spare parts ore repairs to be done.)

So, if anyone is in need of some support, let me know.Perhaps i can reach a helping hand.

It is just depending on my work. because im working in Frankfurt an sometimes my weekends are ruined by my work...

But surely I can do the one or other thing, if informed early enough.

Carsten

Thats a very cool offer.. I'm sure our travelling brits will much appreciate it!

Carsten

Welcome to the site. It's a shame our German is not as good as your English. Except possibly Dutch 4x4, and as i found out Quinten. :(

If ever you decide to visit the UK, and want to stop off in Dover, PM me for any useful information on the area for places to stay.

 Herzlich Wilkommen bei Briskoda!

Ich bin nur halbes Deutsch - meine Mutter war in Deutschland geboren. :D

Der 1.9TDI engine ist sehr gut, nein? ;)

The German is getting a little stretched now so I'm gonna stop before my true language skills become apparent! (and my English isn't much better!)

We call them Estates, or to use the official Skoda terminology, Combis :)

I call them vans with windows.

Welcome Carsten

It

Welcome Carsten. :wavey:

I have been known to go to the Ring, only managed 1 trip this year :( Last couple of years I've been doing 6 or 7 trips :D

If I get to come over next year I'll be in touch and I'll quite happily take you out in my "taxi".

:D

It's about time we finally had a proper Euro meet...

Ring trip & camping in Czech next easter or summer anyone? I might know a nice cheap campsite with a lake if anyone fancies it :)

I can recommend the lake and campsite at Wolfsburg - or better still the one at Bannwaldsee in Bavaria. :D

Hello Carsten,

It was me at the ring on Sunday, I spotted you parking the combi next to mine in the carpark, if I remember on the side with the grune hole resturant looking onto the main road into nurburg, I would have taken you around for a lap had our paths crossed. This was my 7th visit to the ring, and each time my laps improve, still should have now I have done more than 70 laps.

I was around untill just before closing, I was proberbly out doing another lap when you returned. At least the sticker in the back window has pointed a new member here.

Welcome by the way.

Hi Manny,

what an offer ... I think, you can imagine how sad i am, knowing that I missed the chance to go on the track with you...

I am hardly trying to bite my own ass at the moment....

But perhaps another time...

With the experience of 70 laps, I think you know the Ring quite well.

I saw you passing by at the "Adenauer Forst", a part of the track, where

I am quite often. ** It

Ah I like that bit :D

Flat down the foxhole, curving up to the left, jump the kerb, keep left, hard right into Adenau, left then right and power it out. I've got video of be having a bit of a fight with a Ferrari 355 through there, nearly taking his passenger (it was UK registered) mirror off as he didn't want to be overtaken by a Skoda :D :D

As I say, I'll take you out when I'm over there next year  I just about know where the track goes ;) , so it won't be very scarey.
