No engine mods for new LV Customers???

Out of interest ' date=' what does it say on your policy schedule?

Does it clearly state the engine chip and other mods?[/quote']Mods aren't listed on a policy - they are on the proposal form, whether supplied in writing by you, filed via an Internet application, or filed by the insurer in answer to questions posed.

When Frizzell sent me the latest renewal notice, they included a copy of the "Statement of Facts", on which my insurance is based. The description of the car stated quite clearly:-

"The SKODA Octavia Elegance T has the following modification(s)

- Engine/Carburettor modifications."

I renewed my insurance with LV on 30th August, Mike. There was no Statement of Facts or any other mention of the mods - but when I subsequently spoke to LV about fitting a boost controller they confirmed that they had a record of the mods I had declared. Perhaps LV and Frizzel do their paperwork differently?

A silly question......

......LV said to me jsut to keep a records of my mods nothing about declaring them.......

.....should I have done this?

Adrian, mods are material facts and must be declared - although I am aware that LV may have suggested to some members that they don't need to be. The business about keeping bills etc might be relevant in the event an insurance claim involving damage to the car or those parts, ie you need to be able to prove that they were fitted and what they cost.

The only down side to L&V is that value & write off point is based on market value so if you have expensive extras on the car they will replace them but as soon as the cost of repairs hits the write off number youre cars totalled. They have no facility for insuring above market Value despite parts being notified to them.

If its nicked they only pay out up to market value so if youre car is "over specked" consider fitting an Aftermarket Alarm or a Tracker
