What brakes for my Furby?

Featured Replies

I need new front disks and pads. Anyone got some advice. Was looking at some Nitrac disks and Greenstuff pads. Dont want anything mental but a bit better then the standard setup. Getting a remap next month so want a bit more stopping power.

do a search mate, loads of threads about it

you have a few options really

stick to OE, or similar, or go for upgraded stuff, but you could also go for the 312mm brakes from the Octavia vRS and a few others, that would cost you about £350 fitted using OE discs and pads, less if using cheaper stuff from the factors

ive just bought OE discs and pads but not fitted them yet, i couldnt justify the extra expense as i want to lower it and i need the cash for that

don't bother with Greenstuff pads , as they are shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiite

Who makes the OE standard size ones? trying to source some on-line :)

OEM pads are made by Padgid, so are a good make, well my mothers 1.9TDI ones were anyway. Padgid, Mintex and Textar are part of the TMD Friction group and are made in this country. I am currently using EBC Greenstuff because they produce less dust and are kinder to discs than others. Others on here usually say stay away from these pads, but they suit my driving style and have had them on all of our cars.

If you don't want OEM then buy Mintex or Ferodo. You can normally find Ferodo pads at Halfrauds. Do not skimp on pads by using an unknown make, it's your safety we are talking about.

Thanks for the info! I definitely wouldn't buy non brand pads. Tempted by Mintex but on my astra they seemed worse than the oe ones they replaced.

just buy OE then ?.......there not that expensive

312mm brakes using decent OE parts will still **** over an uprated 288mm setup.

I've got OMP pads in mine and they seem very good, granted they are on 312mm discs and the car is not tracked, but seem to produce a good feel and excellent stopping power
