Felicia exhaust hangers

Featured Replies

Hi Briskodians,

Does anybody know where I could find new exhaust hangers..?

I just checked mine, one is dead, and the 2 others won't last any longer.

Can I just buy those generic O-ring, and secure them with cable ties instead..?

I think there is some sort of issue with non-oe exhausts needing bigger hangers. A poster here suggested using old alternator belt in combination with some wire rope grips. These worked quite well for me.

The generic O ring and cable ties should be fine and MOT passable also. Just make sure you can get the correct size needed.

While having a look to Butt's catalog, I noticed this on page 40 : Exhaust Mounting

Is it the correct name for it..? Is it what I'm looking for..?

If you go to your local Skoda dealer, they should be able to supply them for you. Mine did and they were only something like £1.50 each. If you have any trouble fitting them, then immerse them in a mug of boiling water first for a couple of minutes. That makes them pliable enough to fit easily. Once they have cooled down, they go back to their original rigidity and strength. Hope this helps.

Get some of the metal securing clips as well.

Yep they have a tendency to snap as you remove them

I second fordfan and anewman! :)

Yesterday, I was finally changing my (all broken) rubber hangers for new ones. I'd manage to get original ones, yet those rusty stupid metal clips got me worked up. Couldn't get one to just slip up, so utlimately I took the pliers, carefully. Of course, I failed, and snapped the first one. I got so tired that I just went 100% ape **** on the remaining clips, snapped them intentionally one by one. The man at the DIY place (gas station) told me that it didn't matter. There was not any G-preasure down there, so the rubbers would hang steady even though they were not secured. I didn't believe him. I took some steel wire and made a really wacky-looking knot through the crannys and around the entire rubber things. It's stable now, but looks kind of stupid. But who looks down there, anyways? However, I'm thinking about replacing the wire mess with a single cable tie instead. I'm actually not sure why the h*ck steel wire popped into my head before cable ties. The latter is probably way better suited since it doesn't risk carving into the rubber the same was a steel wire.

My pick up 'accidentally' passed an MOT with a combination of an old suspension bump-stop and cable ties acting as an exhaust hanger! It was only meant to be a temporary measure but I sort of forgot about it!

Haha, right on spot there jonny a!

Actually, you just got me worried if I could get issues with the "MOT" counterpart in my country for the above mentioned steel wire securing. Perhaps I should forget all about wires and ties and start really looking for the original clips. I just found this thread (on this very forum), and it seems they float around. However, I live in a small country, so maybe I'm all out of luck after all.
