As the title suggests, nearly traded the car today

It's a 2006 (06) Octy VRS Tfsi, which is a fantastic carm just started getting the itch so found a lovely black 55 plate beemer 5 series m sport and managed to get a 7k trade in price for the Octy:rolleyes:

Anyway, the wife put her foot down and that was that. I'm glad she did to be honest. drove the Octy tonight and thought about what a waste of money it would have been.

It was going to be 8k on top of my car and for what? I certainly wasn't getting 8k worth of equipment, performance or even reliability.

now decided to spend some cash on the Octy instead and enjoy more trouble free happy motoring.

Now that I've saved 8k I can justufy a remap, tints, and maybe some more wee goddies.

Sounds like a plan, and the right decision made

(You do know you can get alot more than just Tints and Wheels for 8k)

see I've been thinking along the same lines changing the fabia for something else, but is it really worth the extra money?

Trouble is the fabia is probably only worth £4k at best in trade in and most of the cars I'm tempted by it £16k or more.

My wife actually likes the 320 M Sport too, I think it looks a bit bland compared to the 5 series and pretty hard to tell apart from the non sport models.

The 5 series just looks meaner and is a fabulous car for space and comfort

Anyway that was all in the past....back to checking out ebay for a sat nav unit...lol

The 5 is an overall better design, I have to agree. But it's a big old car. They still drive very very well though and don't feel big when you're driving them. The design of the 5, and the size of a 3 - for me

On the current 3 they did mildly facelift from 2007 onwards I think, that was certainly when the EfficientDynamics systems were introduced and the benefits of even lower CO2 emissions and better MPG. So the M-Sport models from that era on do look better, with more pronounced body styling and better 'sports' bumpers.
