Thames Valley Police - Press release item

Multi agency vehicle checks with VOSA, DVLA and trading standards with various cars being removed from the road (or temporarily prohibited) for insurance, tints, number plates, road worthiness, lack of driving licence, drugs, vehicle weight.

Now lets hope more of these take place and remove those who choose to use our roads but choose to without following the laws and regulations that we all have to adhere to.

Thames Valley, It's probably a scheme to give them more material to show on the next series of Road Wars :D

My cousin is a trainee copper with Thames Valley.

Think he's just had or is going to have the driving test soon.

Back to the road checks there's seen a fair few of these around my sector in the past month (Bolton not Bajoran!!!)

Road Wars is ace :)

Well with more and more ANPR systems being fitted to even panda cars, the number of cars that shouldn't be on the road will come down. Thing is, the hardcore chavs just buy another £100 shed and carry on regardless, as the courts are a joke. We desperately need bigger prisons, and the the three strikes and your out rule.

Chain gangs fixing the roads would be ace, make the free-loaders work for their prison time. No more TV and pool tables. If they want to behave like worthless animals, they should be treated in the same fashion.

My system would be. First offense for no insurance £1000 fine 9 points

Second offense £5000 fine 10 year driving ban

Third offense, 15 Years jail time, lifetime driving ban

Driving while disqualified, 10 years jail time.

I've spotted a remarkable amount of cars being towed in Leicester recently with huge yellow 'UNTAXED VEHICLE' labels on the back window informing bystanders that it's been siezed - the most recent was a 2005 C class Merc!

i used to go round with an artic collecting all those untaxed vehicles, you would be mazed at some of the really nice new cars we used to put through the frag machine

So the flashy ones do actually get smooshed rather than being sold off?

They go to auction

They go to auction
some go to auction, when we used to pick them up with the hiab it was usually after a big blitz so there were a lot to pick up so we just stacked em up on the trailer, not much left t g to auction after my poor hiab skills have been worked to full effect and the cars are stacked 3 high

Suddenly I'm reminded of the pics of TFL dropping someones Merc and bending the chassis

The problem is these things are nothing more than publicity stunts. They do these things for a week or two then make a few press releases hoping the press stories will stop people driving around without insurance etc.
