For those of you who dont know i purchased 51octytdi's old octavia and collected it from him yesterday.

The car whilst being very well cared had unfortunatly been involved in a little bump :(

What are you plans for it post repair ? sell on or keep ? Will this replace the volvo or are you not selling it now ?

Final skim of filler and a dash of primer to stop it rusting

The volvo is still for sale, if i get an offer in the mean time that i am happy with then ill sadly have to let it go......fecking credit crunch

Good luck matey - at least that Corrida Red is a easy colour to match...

Well done mate, may the modding start :)

Could I ask what filler and primer you used? Just about to sort out a huge rust spot on my polo which sort of crept up on me over the winter months! :o First time doing this too (my previous car was 18 years old and was spotless, then again it was a german car built in germany, not a german car built in spain). Wish it was easy to get to - it's on the o/s sill but at least it didn't go all the way through. Got some of that rust eater stuff. Also got some ISOPON Metalik and Spot filler and primer. Just wondering if what I've bought is any good and if you have any tips on the filling/painting side of things as you've done a good job judging by the pics.

Quick work there Jon. :)

Good effort. Car looks very tidy. (apart from the obvious) ;)

The Parts arrived today. Only one problem.... wrong fecking colour  that will teach me not to assume there was only one flat red in the octavia :o

They sound ok

best thing to do is practice. if you get it wrong then just wait for it to dry and sand it back

Youll soon get the feel for it

That's looking good - Top work.

Shame about the colour. It's good to see you had a little helper!

I would have thought you would have sent me a PM by now..... Not found anything for me then :(

haha, that little helper had better not be around when i start spraying! last time she ended up black  and my paint ended up fooked

i am looking dont worry :D do you want a smashed up one? or a straight one?

As for the red colours, yours looks like Rally Red, and the replacement body parts look Corrida Red. Rally red was around till late 51 plate and replaced with Corrida at that point. Corrida is much darker than Rally Red.
