Glass polish + Glovebox = arghh

Featured Replies

I accidently spilled some glass polish over the dash and glove box about a month ago, and it refuses to wash off! looks like someone jizzed over it

Tried so much hi foam interior shampoo stuff that i've been coughing it out my lungs for about 30 mins now. last week i tried washing up liquid and water (lots of it) but it refuses to budge

any ideas?

Something solvent based? Bit of white spirit or similar?

Have you tried buffing the poo out of it with a micro fiber cloth? making sure it's getting down in between the textures pits and cracks?

I don't mean to contradict Schern, and please contradict back if it's safe, but I really wouldn't recommend anything solvent based on the rubbery bit of the dash.

Have you tried just loads a warm water and a load of elbow grease?

called it multi, not micro. DOH

Don't jizz on your dash in future

Hope that helps

Well where else am i going to

tried lots of elbow grease. Its only in between where its not clearing up... may have to try with a brush or something instead

Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber Care will hide it for a year or so at a time. (Ask me how I know...)

Has it dried leaving white marks? I find if you use a large pencill rubber, it removes dried polish from plastic trim parts on the outside. I have also read peanut butter does the same with plastic bumpers. It's worth a try.

Another vote for peanut butter - agitate with an old nail brush or tooth brush.

Nope, you're probably right. Test in an unobtrusive place first! My next suggestion was going to be sand paper lol.

yeah its white marks in the crevices. Not too sure whether the rubber will reach into the gaps but may be worth the try :) A putty rubber might be better

Not sure I fancy my car stinking of peanut butter lol good tip for the outside though!

I'm gunna attack it tomorrow with a brush, a putty rubber and some washing up liquid

What about using a toothbrush, it may take a while but at least it should get into the cracks.
