Can I adjust throttle 'play'?

Recommended Posts

I'm on my 2nd fabia now, having recently bought a 55 Elegance. Quite pleased with it except for the lack of response when the accelerator is initially touched (oh, and naff mw reception). Re the throttle, when the 'bite' is eventually reached, there's a slight surge. Don't wish to exagerate, but it can make for jerky starting and diificulty reversing/hill starts. I believe that there is no cable involved, so is it possible for me to adjust this myself, do I have to go to a garage or, hopefully not, just live with it? Thanks.

Throttle is fly by wire but not adjustable. Quite common for the pedal potentiometer to go faulty. Sometimes gives erratic idle, other times late power or flat spots.

I sometimes have this problem when I drive my mothers 1.9 TDI Fabia. There is a delay between pressing the throttle just after pressing the break. I don't seam to have this problem with my vRS.

Thanks for replies. If I understand correctly:-

1) I can't do anything easily myself.

2) I could get a (Skoda?) garage to do something with the 'ECU' (at a guess, would that be electronic computer unit?).

3) I could have the potentiometer replaced by (?any) garage (from a hazy memory of physics some 35 years ago, does that vary the electricity?)

Thanks again

Every VAG TDI has a slightly dead throttle pedal IME.

The Lupo's throttle takes some getting used to- it's part fly-by-wire motorised throttle body, (the engine is very like a Fabia's 1.4 16v) but has a cable too, and it's a bit tricky at small openings as the motor tends to adjust things when you don't want it to.
