Any source for turbo/supercharging a Superb v6?

Featured Replies

Just idly musing - wonder if there is any commercial source for supplying the bits? I'm sure that the v6 must be interesting to drive as is, but I was wondering how a bespoke forced induction kit would perform... Not sure what the autobox can handle in terms of extra torque loading though..

Nitrous it ;)

There is a MK2 Golf running an R36 engine with a charger on it, so I would think most of the R32 conversion bits would work or could be adapted. The management system is quite different however from what I have read.

The DSG can't handle more than the current 350Nm so a turbo/supercharger requres a major upgrade.

It might be possible to upgrade it to 300hp as in the Passat R36. It think they are the same until 6000 rmp where the Superb is being limited.

DSG can certainly handle more than 350Nm.

Without any modification in can handle 380-400Nm.

With TCU remap (oil pressure increase) it can handle 460-480Nm.

With TCU remap + uprated clutch patch >600Nm.

But both TCU remap & uprated clutch pack are costly

But you must remember something : if you supercharge the engine, tha car`s warranty is being stopped right away. And when we know that for example a new transmission costs at least 5000 €, I wouldn`t do it...... and who the hell needs more power than that V6 already has ? :thumbdwn::thumbdwn::thumbdwn:

me

(owned a 500bhp camaro years ago - most fun you can have with your clothes on :D)

again, just idle thought - one reason I bought a Fabia vRS was the extent of tuning options, which I enjoyed fitting myself. If a superb has the option for say 450bhp with 4x4, I would like to know all about it...

Now I'm tempted to testdrive one: ft-450

450bhp plus quattro-type Haldex setup sounds rather interesting....

I believe the VW V6 unit isnt a great candidate for turbo charging, remember reading a thread on V6 v's 2.0 TFSi and there was quite an extensive list as to why the V6 doesn't take well to a turbo mainly coming from owners of 3.2 V6 A3's and R32 owners, shame though

as for the DSG, my PD170 puts out 350NM, im not going to hesitate to have the car remapped when the finance become available at the Bank of Dan :P

Edit: obviously that FT-450 setup seems to deem otherwise, but then again, bugger me £11k!!! you can buy a mk5 R32 for that much!!!

Check out Youtube and American sites for owners turbo and super charging R32's and VR6's... they seem to take fine to it with the correct parts :)
