Yet another new car thread!

Sometime in September October we are looking at chopping in the Fester for a new motor, hoping to get around 4k trade in and finance another 10.

So 14 thousand budget

Bigger than a fiesta, sort of Focus sized

57 / 08 or newer

Diesel would be ok but she does no more than 2500 miles a year  so DPF would probably be a problem

Fast (ish) definitely over 100BHP

Good residuals

We've been to the VW dealership so far and she likes the Golf Plus

I'm keen on a MK2 Octy vRS but she says it's too big :(

Why go for the Golf Plus ? Not the most sought after of vehicles.

What about the ordinary Golf GT TDi DSG ? or manual if budget won't run to the DSG

How about a 1 series BMW. Might even get one brand new according to autotrader but more likely a great choice for a 1 year old one. Or a Mini clubman?

We all think the same on this web site apparently, the Golf GT TDi and BMW 1 Series would both be high on my list :) We're hoping to pop out some mini DaveI's next year so I think that's why she liked the Golf Plus with it's high roof line. Did some idle Autotrading last night and the Tiguan is nearly cheap enough which would be a good alternative to the mumsy Golf Plus.

If she only does 2,500 a year then logically you need a petrol. As it is a waste of moneyto have diesel unless your're doing a minimum of 12-20k a year.

A Golf 1.4TSi 122bhp engine does 35 - 40 mpg and is a good drive also better when it comes to local air quality and ultimately cheaper long term to own. Also 0-62mph is in the 9sec bracket so not a slowmobile :D

Upto you in the end, but tis is my recomendations :D
