That's a pretty top assumption/observation young Marc!

Ey fellah...you ever tried changing a wheel on a shed on wheels (Caravan for those that don't know...it's a Mellow Yellowism :D )

Now that is a task NOT for the faint hearted!

Didn't have a problem with doing front wheel - has your hat fallen over your eyes as you've tried to line up the holes????

THE hat? Ahh, well WHEN I get this scanner I keep going on about, we can share it's delights with everyone in here ey!

Slightly off topic, but while I had the wheels off yesterday, removing the forest from under the wheel arches, I took the opportunity to jet wash the rear callipers.

Must say that since doing that, the goods train howling noise in reverse from the brakes has stopped. Can only therefore assume it's a brake dust build up that causes the problem.

Mines still dirty!!!

Been at the docs this morning. May clean it tomorrow.

Back to work Monday.

Before removing the wheel rotate it so that one of the bolts is in the 12 o'clock position. When you come to put the wheel back lower the car slightly on the jack so that you can rest the wheel on the ground while offering it up into position. Make sure that one of the bolt holes on the wheel is in the 12 o'clock position and you should then be able to locate the matching threaded hole in the hub. Raise or lower the car slightly as required. One other tip. Carry a small square of wood in the boot to rest the base of the jack on if jacking on soft ground.

Or

Go to your local scaffolding company and purchase some 6 meter lengths of scaffold tube. Heat the metal tube untill malleable and form two arcs, approx dia. 4mtrs. and weld to side of car. Invite a group of friends round and roll the car onto it's side. Build a platform to stand on. With the hub now facing up offer the wheel onto the hub, rotate as required and insert bolts, job done.

No need to thank me. :D

Why not just weld the wheels to the hubs. Refitting the wheels will no longer be an issue will it ;)

Not a good idea m8, you run the risk of arc eye.
