German/Pressed plates

Featured Replies

Right, im after some pressed plates, but if im getting em, i wanna go all out, pressed, little dots above the a, like erm, i dunno how to get it on my keyboard. lol.

Also, i want the little badges in the middle, now i think in germany, they are like tax or something, and different badges mean different areas, something like that. Does anyone know for sure what they mean, and are they stuck on, or pressed into the plate. Where is the best place for these? I can find plenty doing pressed plates, but none that do all of it. Also, if possible somewhere that does the CZ bit on the end, which seems to be the hardest part.

Thanks

Matt

But nearly every single "feature" you're looking to add to the numberplate makes them illegal in the UK.

Have a look here

Dubmeister - Where performance meets style!

Or perhaps here too...

PlateMyRide.co.uk - NEW - Pressed alloy show Plates - Worldwide! Re-Hosted!

I think you'll find that as more and more ANPR cameras are appearing, you're taking an ever increasing risk of being caught, unless you're just planning to use them purely at shows.

There's several traffic police on here who will confirm that a passing car that fails to be read by their in-car ANPR, triggers an alert, which they'll respond to. Now whether they let you off with a warning or go for a Fixed Penalty Notice is another matter.

Your decision ...

cheers ... Darren

Thanks for the quick replies. I`v got a lovely set of plain legal plates for road use, with the paticular "features" i want, i dont think id make it to the end of my road before being pulled ;)

Thanks again

Matt

More to the point, not every "A" in German carries an accent; I'd check carefully.

Right, i`v found everything, apart from the "CZ" end plate. Can these be bought as stickers? or would that look rather ****? lol

Thanks all

I think you have to email them.

It says on the home page ALL euro bands available,

yet when you try to set it up CZ isn't there.

You'll probably find that you have to use a foreign website. It's actually illegal for suppliers in this country to supply non-road legal plates and they can be fined up to £2500.

It no longer matters what advice is given at the point of sale. They simply can't do it. Good luck finding them though.

Can't they sell "Show Plates" . ?

No. They break the law if they do so. Loads of places are still doing it mind, but the police have been asked to obtain details of suppliers when they stop people with illegal plates and pass these on to the powers that be. It's only gonna be so long before Trading Standards do some test purchasing and absolutely hammer someone to make an example of them.

But that's only if they are used on the road... if they are actually sold and used as show plates then it is perfectly legal.

If the seller is selling them under the pretence of them being show plates that are NOT road legal then they are doing nothing wrong. It is the responsibility of the driver as to where and how they are used.

Wrong I'm afraid. They cannot sell show plates. If they do and you have bought them then you can use them as show plates but the suppliers cannot sell show plates. They can only sell road legal plates.

As consumers we only commit the offence of using them on the road which is a straight £30 fine. The suppliers risk a much heftier penalty if they supply a show plate.

Oh right. I stand corrected then.

How come that is the case as they are show plates designed not to be used on the road so why should it matter?!

The key word is 'designed' there. For some reason the government don't trust that us cheeky little scamps will only use them at shows.

No idea why they think that! :D

The double dots over A O U are called umlauts and they change how the letter is pronounced

A changes from "a" to an "e" sound, so äpfel (apple) is pronounced "epfel"

O changes from an "oh" or "o" to an "err" - So •Österreich (Austria) is pronounced errst-er-rike. :)

I don't recall what the U changes to, but there's my brief lesson in Kraut, I mean German :D (Being half German I can say that ;))

cheers, so it looks like the dots are useles on numberplates, and someone jus decided they`d look good at some point, Think i`ll have em on either of the letters but not both.

Thanks

Matt
