Wheel Nut Covers

Featured Replies

Does anyone know the part number for the grey plastic wheel nut covers?

I have lost a couple and i just notice it every time i get in. Very annoying.

I lost one on my Superb and went to the dealer to replace it, but they said they don't stock the grey ones. I tried one they had, but it was another colour and it was also longer than the existing covers.

I'm driving through the Czech Republic in September - maybe I'll be able to get one there!

They wouldn't have removed the wheels for a first service, unless you had a specific problem that required them to do so.

i asked them to rotate the wheels to even out tyre wear.

Ok.... definetely down to the dealer to replace it then......................

you think thats bad,

on my SEAT, the dealer removed the locking wheel nuts and replaced with normal wheel nuts... claims it wasnt them, even though i have never taken the wheels off.

As said they don't remove wheels just peer through spokes of wheel until you have a reasonably higher mileage.

Found this out when I decided to remove a front wheel with great difficulty, as centre hub had corroded to wheel centre.

I asked Skoda Dealer did they remove the wheels on servicing it, and the quick reply was no!

This is why whenever I get a car..the first thing that I do is take the wheels off and copper grease the hub/wheel contact area...stops a galvanic battery forming, which leads to dissimilar metal corrosion!!! B)

Ebay is the way forward mate :)

You can get some decent chrome looking ones for not much money too!

Sick of replacing them on my Octy vRS. Have resorted to blutack to keep the b******rs on.

Go back to the dealers and "Borrow" few from one of the display vehicles... Bet they will find the part number to replace them pretty sharpish!

Not had a problem with mine falling off but did have a car wash place put some sort of polish on them that looks whitish... Thought the alloy paint finish was coming off until I looked closer and noticed. Bugger to shift without taking each cap off and re-cleaning them!

Yes and if you get caught the dealer probably wont deal with you in future.

I've had two lots of nut covers ruined by car washes. Same as you - whitish deposit thats next to impossible to remove. Normally I don't use the car wash but I neeeded to spruce up my wifes Mk1 Fabia as a p/ex deal for her new one. Took it to a manned car wash place for a full valet, looked great afterwards, but next day the white frost appeared on the wheelnuts! Recently took my Octavia in to have a minor scratch repaired on the bumper and the repair place cleaned the car despite me washing it by hand before I took it there. Again I had the white frost appear next day on the wheel nut covers. Cannot remove it no matter what I try. I don't know what these covers are made of, but they they don't seem fit for purpose. I know many people have very strong views about not using car washes (for reasons I fully understand)but in my experience its only the wheel nut covers that have been attacked by whatever the car wash cleaners use. Everything else on the cars was fine.
