As much as I would like it i just don't think I need it right now. PC is running lovely using Vista Home Premium and seems to have even improved in performance recently after re-installing Crysis the other night at it actually be incredibly playable at very high settings unlike last time?!

Phil

Thanks a lot, just ordered the Professional edition, sub £100 for this OS in a bargain in my opinion.

I will be getting Home Premium... being realistic it has everything i need... the professional only really has domain logon and virtual XP over Home premium.

Edit: seems Amazon have sold out of Home premium already!

I'll wait for Microsoft to send me a copy :)

That happened between me choosing my version and me paying for the one I chose, :D

Ditto! Bargain-uss!

Will take a look later, see if I can be persuaded :)

Don't understand how places can run out of stock on a pre-order though?

Or do they send you Vista now, and you get Windows 7 when it's released (October time?)

Steve

I reckon they've probably been told by M$ how many copies they'll receive when it ships. Or they're just being conservative to make sure they don't have loads of people kicking off on launch day!

I've decided to wait since a birdy tells me the OEM versions will be similar and I don't trust the claims of how wonderful things are until SP1

Just convert to Apple

£20 quid for Snow Leopard and it does everything it says on the tin :D

Go Apple you will never go back to Micro****

Been using 7 for a while now on the home PC and it's the equal if not better than OSX on my MBP. Certainly better from a networking point of view imho the performance has been blistering on my rig at home with a "lowly" Q6600 clocked to 3.4ghz and Dual 9800GX2's.

Thinking of giving up the MBP and heading back to a 7 laptop already .....

There's always one Pedantic fooker :P

But to be fair it doesn't say on the tin it contains a Snow Leopard. :P:P

Have you been using Bruno's Exercise bike with Bill Gates? or are you just Being paid off :P:D

You of all people should know nothing Windows produce can touch Apple Software at the moment.

Wonder how many updates you will have to install and how many Bugs/Fixes will be fixed by W7SP1

Have you seen the Keynote on Snow Leopard and Windows 7:rolleyes::D

Carry on believing the propaganda mate :) I'm impressed with OSX, but more impressed with the Windows 7 and the way the empire is marketing it. Is there an open Beta of Snow Leopard? or an open version of the RC you can use free for a year before you make the decision? Can I put graphics cards in SLi to a reasonably priced Mac? the best office product for OSX is made by ...... hmmmm .. oh yeah, Microsoft :)

If Apple had to support the platforms that Microsoft have to support they would crumble and fall apart, when you have complete and direct control of the hardware in use on your OS, then it's easy to make a "Stable" operating system.

I would have replied earlier :) but Safari crashed .......... and that's had 2 major updates to V4 as well

Ordered Home Premium from PC World for £45. Thanks for pointing it out Neo.

Office is better for Word & Excel granted. However Powerpoint can't touch Keynote :P Plus i can control Keynote from my MBP with my iPhone - Now that is Cool :P (Your gonna tell me now you can do something similar on windows aren't you just to make my Argument even more Flawed :D)

I don't use my PC for games that much - thats what the PS3 i bought off you is for :P:P

I do play Age of Empires 3 on my MBP though and it works all fine and dandy for me

Apple don't support the platforms that Microsoft does because they don't want to deal with lower inferior quality PC's & Peripherals :D:D:P

Im not saying that Windows 7 isn't a good operating system. It is. It's just not as good in my opinion as what i have seen in Snow Leopard. But will wait till September till i upgrade and then see what is what. I reckon once both OS are on the Open Market people will say Snow Leopard still beats Windows 7

Oh and i have only ever had 2 crashes on Safari V4 and they both down to PM's on Briskoda for some reason. ( not saying it's Briskoda's Fault ) otherwise i have found it far better than GC2 / FF3.5 and IE8 on my Fiancee's windows laptop :P

So ner ner ner ner :P:D

What happens if you had Vista pre-loaded? Are these full, or upgrade versions?

Just worried about IF things go belly up how you get a working system again.

If you have Vista pre-loaded, you should have a utility on the system to create a recovery disc. Do that first before installing 7 as it will do a clean install and wipe the HDD. Then if you want to go back to Vista, you can reload it from the recovery disc.

The new Euro laws mean that Win 7 will not do an upgrade, and also does not come with Internet Explorer.

The new Euro laws mean that Win 7 will not do an upgrade

I thought this was simply MS policy rather than EU law?
