Skoda Estate - Fabia or Octavia ?

Featured Replies

Help me out here, I can't decide what to covet ;) Pro's and cons ? Am after a second hand car with good transport space and reasonably easy to park. But I can't make my mind up between the Fabia Estate and the Octavia Estate.

Thx !

Can't offer advice on the Fabia, but we have a 2001 Octy estate and it is great.

Not the most fun in the world, but a well thought out car with a big boot.

I guess it depends on how much space you really need in the boot - I would point out that although it does have three 3 point seatbelts in the back, the middle seat is not a nice place to be, but this is probably true of most cars really.

I found the Fabia to be quite spacious, not massive... but certainly on par with my A4 Avant!

you can still be cheeky in a Fabia estate! :P

Its small and easy to park, but the Octy will have the boot advantage.

Thanks for the opinions. How do they compare on fuel economy and performance ? Am I right in thinking that they use the same range of engines, so I'd expect the Fabia to come out on top as it's smaller and lighter ?

The octavia has much more grown up looks. Really don't rate the new fabia at all.

There's a new Superb estate coming out soon. Looks great...apart from the front of it.

Wish they'd done a mk1 Superb estate.:rotz:

Fabia boot on new estate is exactly the same as the a4 avant (480 ltrs)...... either audi cant build spacious cars...or skoda are too good at it!

For most day to day things, the Fabia would be ok, but for a real load lugger, oki all the way

I'd suggest you ask which one of your two criteria is more important.

If it's the load lugging go with the Octy, and if it's ease of parking go wiht the Fabia.

Job done.

We test-drove a Fabia estate when we were looking for SWMBO's Fabia. The rear overhang made the ride wallowy, and rather unpleasant.

My Octy estate doesn't have these problems, but after 56k often with heavy loads in the back, the rear springs are looking a little saggy - but ride seems unaffected.

There's no room in the Audi! I have the move my seat forward to get a passenger behind me!

I had an Octavia Hatch, then an Estate. You really can pile stuff into the estate without any problems. Handling seems to be the same. I have driven a Fabia estate on a view occasions, and would say the Octavia handles better! However I do have large alloys :D
