DK Schweizer Leather Retrim

Featured Replies

Well, I have just taken a punt and bought what looks to be a good-looking leather retrim for £55 on eBay.

Skoda Fabia 03 Model Complete Leather Kit NEW on eBay (end time 26-Jul-09 21:00:00 BST)

Obviously, I will need to t\ke the seats out myself and spend some time trying to remove the old covers and fit the new, but this is a bargain I couldn't refuse. I would have mentioned it on here earlier, but didn't want too many bidding rivals!

The seller has just put another set up, this time in black and grey. I will report back on the quality of my covers and let you know whether or not they are worth bidding on.

Anyone who has any experience of changing the covers on Fabia seats, your advice /tips would be greatly appreciated.

Mmm, interesting!

Sorry... I didn't mean to spoil your chances when I made that thread...

You still got a bargain though so no hard feelings ;)

Can't wait to see these fitted.... or, indeed.. just a good pic so I can see if they're red or brown?!?!?!

Yeah, I was bidding on them as well, wasn't going to go above £20 for something I wasn't 100% on though.

I will be happy to post pics when I get them.

I placed a £40 bid on them myself - Just out of interest, to see what the quality was like!

Sorry if that lead to you paying more!

More on the bay now with grey centres

It took Seat Surgeons circa 4 hours to fit leather seat covers and door trims to my Fabia - and they know what they are doing! Good luck fitting them.

Well I've got 5 more weeks off work, so should be able to work it out in that time!

Do take photos ;)

The leather arrived today. Looks like a good quality trim. I will take some photos in the morning when it's light, and then try and fit them over the next week or two.

As for the colour, it is red, but not bright red. Think not Liverpool shirt red, but the colour of that kind of wine-coloured shirt that Arsenal had a couple of years back.

I think for the price you paid its worth a go. Whether you can get the tension and shape to hold is another thing but you never know. May turn out great.

I used to trim car seats in leather, u may find Hog rings holding the covers to the seat itself (small circular bits of metal) use pliers to open these out enough to remove old covers and re-attach them to the new ones as they hold the covers in the right shape. (if vrs seats use them that is) if theyre decent covers you will get to a stage where you think theres no way theyre going to fit as they get very very tight. give them a bit of a pull and a prod and they should fit. once your happy with the shape you can use a heatgun to shrink any creases out of the edges, just dont get too close or the grain of the leather will go all smooth and look a bit of a mess. i find the easiest way of fitting headrest covers is to first turn them inside out and then roll them down onto the headrest a little at a time. get some pics up too as if they look good i may invest in a set also. tris

I have emailed them to see if they do a kit for the Octavia Mk1. I know a lot of owners would be interested in replacements for the RS seats.

Definitely!

anymore progress with this, very interested as i have white leather bucket seats in the front and would like to get the rear seats covered in white leather

No response yet, but will keep you posted.

I have fitted my rear seat covers this evening...

Bloody hard work! I have struggled for hours with those bleeding hog rings and I am absolutely exhausted by it. However, I am delighted with the result. I will take some photos tomorrow. Hope to press on and fit the front ones this week. Door cards can wait...

Looks good

I'm contemplating doing a Seat Surgeons retrim if I can get hold of a pair of vRS front seats with the heating elements in them...or can the elements be swapped over from seat to seat...?

Looks very good

they look really good nice job well done

Never thought you'd get them looking as good as this! Great job! Get pics up when fronts are done.
