Wassup ppl!

6 months since I've got a 1.9TDi, and man have I grown to love it!

Living in Bombay, India, this is really the perfect car you can buy! (uhoh...do I sense an arguement comin up from the Honda owners back home.!)

Sure its only got 90hp, but that torque is simply amazing! However, i must admit its made me lazy, I tend to just stick it in third and forget about it! Thats ok, coz I have my bike for my thrills!

Well, thats a short intro from me...maybe I'll add to it a bit later!

Now...where do I get my hands on a powerchip or 2!! :D

welcome! :D

Hi Rt,

Welcome to the site

Glad you like the car !

Welcome, Rt. :) You will find plenty of advice here on tuning. I assume that you car was made in India. What is the 3-letter engine code for the 1.9 diesel fitted to your car?

Welcome.

damn...I just realised! I forgot to mention that the car I got is the Octavia! :o

@DGW: I gotto check that engine code, though from what I know, the engine is still imported into India, and not manufacturered here yet. The car itself was assembled in India from SKD form!

Its a strange story though. Skoda first came into India 3 years ago, operating out of a hotel room with just 2 dealers in the whole country! I guess they wanted to test the waters before commiting fully!

With no past history to deal with (unlike in Europe, where the old skoda jokes still do the rounds) they were free to position themselves in any way they wanted!

Well, Skoda was accepted, and in a big way. THe main reason being the wonderfull TDi engine and its amazing economy. In India, diesel costs 25-30% less than petrol, so manufacturers take advantage of that by charging a premium for diesel engine cars. Skoda broke this tradition when they launched their 2 litre 100hp petrol and the 1.9 TDi Octavia's at the same price. They were also priced very competitively, and it didn't take long before they gained a name for themselves.

Well, to conclude, Skoda have now set up a full fledged manufacturing unit and even though the new Octi has been launched in other countries, the old Octi continues to sell here, atleast till the middle of next year.

The 150hp RS was only recently introduced to the market and has instantly gained a sort of fan following of its own. The Superb is also sold here, though it has a hard time finding buyers, as in this price range, people want the 3 pointed star, even if it is the smaller C class!

Still waiting for the Fabia to be launched here though!
