Water leaking into car

Hi

Is this a common fault and does anybody know how to fix this issue, otherwise the car seems a good one.

Thanks in advance for any replies

loads of threads on the forum regarding this fault, could be a couple of things , door inner carriers leak , this is very common

and the bulkhead drain holes can block under the scuttle panel

Or check your water levels for coolant, could be coolant leaking from the back of the heater matrix too.

Why? the leak is in the rear Footwell.

It sounds like the rear door carrier is leaking, a common fault to Fabias (mine leaked).

If you fancy having a go yourself, there is a good guide here: Door Carrier Repair - Fabia-vrs.com

Here Kitty Kitty......................BANG!

Holy thread revival Batman!

Did you find out the cause of the leak? I have an equally mysterious leak in a Fabia into the same place. I have read about the door carrier, the plenum chamber (bit where water drains under the wipers), and the rear screen wash popping off near this location - however none of these appear to be the cause.

Theres always a little bit of dampness under my carpet on that rear nearside too, and Ive sealed the door carriers, checked for split hoses etc, yet it still remains slightly damp. Does not do it on the drivers side though! Ive taken the mat out for now and am drying it off properly in the house, at least it does not smell though!

Ill revive this again...just got my VRS, but id like to clear out the drain as Ive had this happen in my last Fabia and it wasnt pleasant! Im assuming the drain plugs are located in the same location on the VRS as they were on my MPI?

B) If its the door carriers you will have water on top of the rubber door seals ! you should always check the bottom of the doors after rain or washing the car, and they can still leak even after being done in the past, so don't use silicon as you will have a right job removing it, I used a caravan sealer which stays flexable. cheers - Stuart B)

Google says caravan sealer is sikaflex...? :wonder:

In the end I found mine was screen wash. Rule of thumb seems to be if there is a short delay between pressing to squirt screenwash and it coming out of the back, your washer pipe has blown off and needs putting back. Quite easy to do you just remove the piece of trim by the side of the seat which has 2 poppers on and it's somewhere near the top.

 This is what I have used - SEAMSEAL CV - its a non setting caravan sealer which will clean off with turps and its about £2.50 a tube cheers - Stuart. B)
